Honestly, this stage has never failed to make me absolutely weep, it really reminds me of my grandmother, who suffered with mixed dementia and passed away before her birthday last year. I understand where people come from when people describe the songs in this album as 'relaxing' but, at least in my opinion, i think having first hand experience with someone who suffered with the disease that this album attempts to represent really portrays it in a new light. I honestly think stage 1 portrays the start of dementia very well, and it definitely deserves to be celebrated, along with the other 5 (or maybe more?) albums. Thats really all i have to say though, listening to the past lucidity stages would probably make me cry a river lol.

This album makes me anxious. Not because of the tune but because I would play stages 1-2 alot last April and May. During those times I was going through some awful things, I started to self-harm and was considering suicide. I'm crying while writing this. I think the music just soaked up the negative feelings. I remember I would listen to this as a comfort, the music was so calming and soothing it made forget about myself.

This spring break, I went up to Pennsylvania to visit my brother, but most importantly for this story, my Grandma. My Grandma (I’ll call her Grammy for conveniences sake) Is 95 years old at the time of writing this and has late stage dementia. She was a wonderful woman who loved her grandchildren (me, my twin brother, and my older half-brother) and loved talking with others. Anyways, we went to the nursing home she currently resides in to say hello and give her a milkshake. There were two parts of this visit that have been burned into my mind. The first one was introducing myself to her (she somehow remembered me, but not my brother or her own children) and I had to help her out of bed with my mom, which proved to be a daunting task. She almost fell over and I held on to her with all my might, with her being all confused and wining a little, which broke me. It just didn’t feel right. The other part was me going into the activity closet they had there and pulling out a poetry book with hundreds of poems inside of it and sitting down at a table to read it aloud. When reading, an old woman came up to me. She was really funny and was cracking jokes, but just like a good chunk of the people living in here, she was confused (but nowhere near as confused as Grammy). She was saying random names of people, etc. I forget exactly what she was talking about to me, but I believe it was about how pretty I was, and how I reminded her of a special someone. I was crying before I even finished the poem on the page I was reading. After a while, I said my Goodbyes to my Grammy and gave her a big hug. We then left the nursing home. Knowing how she is doing now (as of today, my dad told me that she hadn’t left her bed for a few days) that was probably the last time I would ever see her again. I love you, Grammy Amber. -Mimi

"It's Just a Burning Memory" struck a few chords in my spirit and soul. It reminded me of the Shining and my passion for it. I looked up this artist and his music and found this excerpt that made it all make sense and perhaps after reading it a few things will come together for you as well. "The Caretaker was a long-running project by English ambient musician Leyland James Kirby. His work as the Caretaker is characterized as exploring memory and its gradual deterioration, nostalgia, and melancholia. The project was inspired by the haunted ballroom scene in the 1980 film The Shining."

I am a musician who once played for a couple of nursing homes, and I met a particular old lady who we both got along with a few days before the performance. She gave me her name and room number, and I saw her in the audience when the performance came. After, I came up to her, but she didn’t recognize me at all. It was heartbreaking, but I held back the tears and reintroduced myself to her. So for me, I have this feeling I can relate to when I listen to the album. Hope that explains it!

i brother showed me this song for the first time and i started humming along to the notes but i havent listened to this, now its the only thing i will ever listen to, specificaly everything at the end of time. that one makes me feel like im in an old timey house idk why

its an album not a song, the later stages get more distorted because it represents the progression of alzheimer's, and according to its lore the degrading music represents memories from a ballroom the patient danced in long ago so the music is old so thats probably why you feel like your in an old timey house

I'd listened to this when it first appeared on YT...and then my wife passed away from dementia (November '22.) I find I can't listen to it again. No offence to the artist, or to Mr. Psychedelic Angel.

Aren't most of these music samples repeated? That is why I hear the same melody in every sample from the first to the last.

I havent listened to the other stages so im going in blind, three songs in and i feel comforted but also intrigued and confused why its just a repetition of the same tune..
@banana_Asriel
@banana_Asriel 3 ай бұрын
Maybe the repetition of the same tune is meant to represent they forgot that part has already happened. This album is about dementia and Alzheimer's after All.

I think I'll do this for every stage when I listen to them fully, I want to explain my experience. Stage 1 was very, interesting, the dawning of whats to come always loomed over my shoulders while I listened. Not much to actually say here, it is just music with really mild distortion, all I can say is that it was a great first album. However, this is just a taste of whats to come.

why "B3 - Quiet internal rebellions" is different of the complete edition?
@CloverSvcks
@CloverSvcks 2 жыл бұрын
Because it's actually the correct version, and if you need proof go on bandcamp and listen to the preview for b3 on there, it's the exact same as this vid. it's changed in the youtube upload and replaced with E8 from stage 3, I assume this was done to avoid copyright. Though Weirdly, this upload doesn't have any copyright claims.
