The Carmelit is an underground funicular railway in Haifa, Israel
The video shows the new modern train cars and the improved system reopened in october 2018!
The Carmelit, named after the mountain through which it runs, Mount Carmel, is an underground funicular railway that runs up and down parts of Mount Carmel within Haifa. The altitude difference between the first and last stations is 274 meters.
The Carmelit is one of the smallest subway systems in the world, having only four cars, six stations and a single tunnel 1.8 km long. It is also the only subway in Israel! (until Tel Aviv's light rail network opens)
*The carmelit has 6 stations- my mistake.
הכרמלית החדשה בחיפה, תיעוד המערכת המחודשת שהושקה באוקטובר 2018 לאחר השיפוץ והגעת הקרונות החדישים.

@@erangabay My first trip to Israel. Heck, Haifa even had a bowling alley. Don't know if there are any in Israel these days. If I remember correctly, there were a relatively number of lanes, but it was the latest technology, all automatic.

@@erangabay Yes sorry my fault I must study again my English because I have made many errors recently. I just thought that the fortress was there but it's not. I don't know well the Israeli geography, so the mountain is called Masada, I thought that the name of the fortress was Massada. Thanks

What does Carmelit mean? also isn't Haifa an arabic name?
@erangabay

Carmelit because it is climbing mount Carmel (the mountain haifa is situated on). There are many explanations for Haifa's name origins.

You're talking about 60 year old infrastructure. That sort of things wasn't in their planning back then. Now it's just impossible to implement. I mean, it is - but you might as well just build a new one.
