This ranger is very good. The fact he tells the truth that the town economy would suffer if entire battlefield were park property. Albeit the tourist trade draws millions of tourists. He does excellent job. I dint know how I missed this video before. Thank you D Stuffwriter.

3:45 fascinating...the ranger tells us that civil war generals did not have deputy commanders, so when the higher echeolon commander was killed, a lower man moved up, requiring another commander to take his position.

The fight inside the town was vicious and not really studied other than a few mentions here and there. General Renyolds deployment allowed this to happen and bought time for the city to be bottled up with only a key few routes open.

I'm not sure what book I read it it in, most like Stephen Sears, but the author says that O. O. Howard did a pretty adequate job as general-in-charge, but probably his biggest mistake is that he didn't post anyone in the town to direct the retreat which quickly became a confused mess.

Hey StuffWriter, I was on this Battlewalk. If I'd known I was standing right next to you I would have said hello! lol I was the guy carrying the big Frassanito book, Early Photography At Gettysburg, and talked to Chuck a few times. I'm on camera in the video a few times lol Appreciate all your uploads, been watching them awhile. I can only get to Gettysburg once a year, so it all depends on timing if I can get on a Battlewalk or not, so your uploads are a great way to see these if not able to be there. Chuck does a good job, although my favorite rangers are the legend himself, Atkinson and John Hoptak. Got to go on a few events with Matt while I was there, great guy, great to finally meet him. I was hoping Hoptak was doing a Battlewalk that week, but he was scheduled to do one on July 27th, did you have a chance to go on it and record it? Matt said they have John doing a lot of the Educational stuff with kids right now, so he's been busy and not around too much. Keep up the great work man!

Someone needs to invent a hologram technology that would show what Gettysburg would have looked like with all those soldiers in the field!

1:14:20 lol i have a totally idiotic fascination with gory depictions of men blown to smithereens by cannon fire. I wish i didn't, and in fact i blame these Gettysburg rangers' videos for giving me tons of subject matter. "Their lines were so close that some of their skirmishers were literally blown to pieces at the muzzles of our guns"

I know what you mean. I'm morbidly fascinated by one description of a group of rebels directly in front of a double load of cannister who "disappeared in a pink mist." It sounds like they were so mutilated they were simply liquified.
