Though this isn't my style of fishing, I mostly fish rivers for chub and barbel or prefer stalking carp with one rod, I really enjoyed this video. After a 10 year break I'm returning to angling this year so been watching as many KZbin videos as possible which will inspire me and get my fishing brain back into gear and this one is definitely one of the best carpy ones I've watched. Darrells cool, calm style of presentation (and also including the mistakes) is extremely watchable (a lot of carp anglers seem to irritate me lol). Also whoever did the soundtrack (sometimes another source of irritation! its either ridiculous HI NRG techno or boring ambient piano) also deserves a mention, because they did a spot on job. Cheers!

Can someone please explain to me why there are still (leadcore) leader bans on certain lakes in England? As far as fish safety goes, a helicopter set-up nowadays is like 10x safer for the fish than having a standard leadclip set-up with tubing. Same goes for using braided mainline, wich combined with a fluocarbon snagleader would be much safer on the lake Darrell fishes this episode. Down here in Holland, I most certainly couldn't fish properly without these things, that's for sure.

The fish were comfortable in that area, Darrell just couldn't get a pick up until finding the right spot and then unfortunately the fish was weeded so off he went! He's putting Korda's Kama Kote on the hooks after sharpening them - its an anti-corrosion compound to ensure the hooks stay super sharp.

This ones great, its different from the other styles of video. Its more like watch the expert fishing instead of watch the experts catch montage if that makes sense. This style answers different questions, its a different learning experience. How does he cast, how does he use the clip, what does he do when he makes mistakes, watching him waiting for the fish to move instead of clipping that part and showing him casting to the fish, its the stuff like that that's really important. I don't have anyone to teach me how to fish I learn from YT, info vids and pretty catch montages are great but you can go out and buy all the stuff and still get the application wrong. More on the angling, less on the fish. How does he catch them.
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We've gone for a more immersive style so you can see ALL the little things that go into getting it right, and that this doesn't always happen first time, it often takes a few tweaks to get that bite!
@Ew9k3 жыл бұрын
unfortunately i don't understand the video. It is obvious that he can walk through the entire lake. So you could well create a spot. Marking and spodding also makes no sense cause he could bring the food to the spot. He could place his rods by feet as well. :D
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
The rules on wading are strict at Farriers and also bailiffed very well - you can only wade to land weeded fish. Darrell had a to check with the bailiff he was okay to stand in margin (6 inches of water) by his rods to cast. So all baiting rig casting etc. must be done from the bank.
@danrobinson31543 жыл бұрын
This may not come across well. Fishing in spots pointed out by other anglers and using bait recommended for the lake, I would argue that isn't angling that's fishing by numbers. You may as well floater fish in a koi pond. As much as its lovely catching big carp surely there is no sense of achievement as essentially they're other anglers' fish who have put the hard work in.
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, I think Darrell points out that you cannot ignore what other anglers are telling you but you still need to check and fish known spots your own way, and as for the Cell it dominates a lot of waters and when this is the case you better off joining the party a lot of the time.

Shame that 22lb isn’t seen as a big fish. Makes new anglers not appreciate all size fish. Love to catch a carp like that, size is irrelevant should be about the fun of fishing and the look of the fish
@dw22613 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong I love these vids the pro guys do and the knowledge they give is awesome but I do often wonder with these professional vids it always looks like u guys have the whole lake to yourself for 2/3 days of filming. Also do u guys have spotters patrolling the lake with multiple rods set up all over the lake chucking kilo after kilo of bait in?. I don't know about anyone else but the lakes I fish once you've set up in a particular swim u are not allowed to move. So if you do see fish on the other side of the lake its tough luck. Honestly I'm not slatting anyone but sometimes these pro guys and vids do seem to have it far to easy u can't help think its all a bit of a set up?.
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
Hi, this was filmed with one camera man and Darrell only, who turned up on both sessions the same as any of the other anglers there to take his chances and exactly how you see him apply his watercraft skills to put himself in with the best chance of catching - no spotters?! booking off swims or anything similar. On Darrell second session the swim to his left was occupied, the swim to his right had two anglers doubled up, two anglers were at the top of the bay to his left and one in the bay behind him, the swim he fished in the first session (5) was already occupied as was swim 4 to the left of that. Farriers is a syndicate water so the only privilege we had was permission to fish/film these two sessions.
