Seriously, is there any voice better than Karen Carpenter‘s? She and Richard were just so perfect for one another’s voices. I am truly stunned anytime I hear them sing together… Amazing!

I agree, her speaking voice is delicate, melodious and - dare I say it - quite sensual. It radiates warmth and love. It's a shame she didn't have a chance to find true love and start a family of her own, I think she would have been a great mother and a loving wife!

I completely agree. Leon Russell once said that Karen Carpenter sings his songs better than anyone. As she does their own songs, and whatever covers the Carpenters do. Amazing duo. Karen has always been my favorite female singer, no one compares.

I often wonder if Richard tried to help Karen with her self esteem. She was beautiful, especially with a few extra pounds.

Karen was the best. There will never be another like her. Not only was she a great singer, but a special person as well. Fame and fortune never went to her head -- she was always just Karen, the "girl next door". The kind of person that would stop and speak to the janitor of the building she was performing in. God loaned Karen to us for a little while, but then He got to missing her too much and called her back.
@mstrunn8 жыл бұрын
This was incredible; I've heard the medley several times but not with this clarity, Karen's voice really came through, high register to low register, perfect pitch, awesome enunciation, she is the greatest female singer ever, especially live performances.

I think you're right. I know her pitch will be spot on whenever she sings.

I'm from Indonesia. My Dad used to listen to The Carpenters and Burt Bacharach almost every time when I was a kid (I am now 27). He had this old cassette player that my grandfather gave him. He kept playing the tapes over and over again, any chance he could. Mostly on the weekends. I didn't understand it at first, why the hell would he keep listening to the same shit? But it grew on me. The music, the singing, the melodies, the arrangements. As I get older, I keep realizing the reason why my Dad loved them so much, and why they deserve so much love. It grew on me, to the point where it also influences me and shapes me as a person-who happens to play music. I am forever grateful to my Dad. All because of him.

Karen was with us for such a short time. But she left us her voice & her music.
I don't know about anyone else, but when Karen sings, it seems that she is singing only to me, in a personal, meaningful and gentle loving way. It's cliche, I know, but if any voice can make me want to walk on the beach holding hands or sit by the fireplace on a chilly autumn evening eating grapes, it is Karen. Love her forever!

I heard a music critic say that he thinks one of the reasons why so many people have such a visceral response to Karen's voice is that it sounds like a mother singing to her child, it's an interesting theory,who knows.

A beautiful woman and soul with the voice of an angel, so pure and perfect. The sad thing is that she didn't realise this herself - ultimately the world lost this beautiful woman and kindly soul and no one was able to help her. She left us a legacy of beautiful songs and wonderful recordings of her angelic voice but I wished someone could have saved her.
