Growing up, The Carpenters were always on the radio. My parents loved them and had many Carpenters 8-tracks (!), and we always watched them on tv on the different variety shows in the 70's. She is definitely one of the greatest voices ever, but God, it's so tough to watch her here- she's just wasting away. I can't believe she's still standing. What a terrible loss.

the song was from The Bruce Forsythe Show in England. That's why, at the end, she sings, "Happy Christmas, Brucie"
@TammyGrosso4 жыл бұрын
After seeing his reaction to that part, I was looking down the responses to see if anyone explained why she said "Brucie" at the end. Also her brother Rich wasn't part of this video. She went against his wishes and traveled to the UK, for this show. There was someone else playing the electric piano. Which is why they didn't put the spotlight on him, as usual. He was in Kansas receiving treatment in Messenger Clinic, for his addiction to Quaaludes. I only wish she's have listened to him, and gotten treatment for her ED, at that time, and not waited a few more years. She might be with us still, if she did.

@StudeSteve624 жыл бұрын
The most shocking of those is ironically the one in which she looks happiest...the concert video of her soloing on drums, from 1976. The contrast is jarring between her gauntness in a white T-shirt and the absolute joy on her face as the thrashes the daylights out of various drums...tragic and magic at once.

This song became an instant holiday classic and staple almost immediately on release.
