"Anemoia" is relatively new English word coined to mean "nostalgia for a time you've never known". That's what makes this song emotional for people, no matter how young you are. Karen's voice, the music, and the lyrics make you long for what she's describing and remembering fondly. It's amazing to think that she sang this nearly 50 years ago (early 1970s), and was singing about songs she describes as "oldies" that were only 10 or 15 years old at the time (late 50s, early 60s).

This is the carpenters at their very best. Karen’s voice is rich and truly stunning and Richard’s arrangements and musicianship is top-notch.

Karen was a treasure, taken from us far too soon! I am pleased you are enjoying her music and hopefully spreading the joy of Carpenters music to some members of a new generation. I could listen to her all day and thank you for your reaction to this great song! One more song to put on your list, pamela, would be "Sylvia's Mother" by Doctor Hook. Try to find a live version if you can. Cheers, and keep on smiling!!
