Great post, thanks! Kudos for the great audio sound too! Notably, the band is here in exquisitely-fine form for a (relatively) early performance (from their hometown) before the release of Candy-O. If John Lennon could refer to The Beatles masterpiece "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" as a "throw away song", the same could be said of "Nightspots" since it didn't make The Cars debut album a year earlier. With their powerful guitar/synthesizer gnashing interplay already in place, Mr. Orr's bass is never lost in the mix. And with the brilliant, enigmatic Mr. Ocasek choosing to handle the vocals himself, "Nightspots" has earned a rightful place of my list of Top 20 Cars Masterpieces (1978-1984) and is a snapshot of what got the band to the Rock 'n Roll HOF (2018). RIP Ric and Ben, sadly. Nov 2020

If all 12 are as great as this & Bye Bye Love, it must have been one fantastic show!! They really had the songs on their first two albums completely fleshed out before going into the studio. This performance is just shy of 1 year prior to the Candy-O album release, and it's every bit as good as the recorded version!
