The Cars Benjamin Orr with ~Just What I Needed~ Fanmade Video Commemorating his 75th Birthday

Dear friends, This is a video I created to commemorate what would have been Benjamin Orr's 75th Birthday today, September 8th , 2022. I used some photo montages I made to honour Benjamin's incredible legacy and also added some audio of Benjamin greeting the audience. I chose "Just What I Needed" as it says it all and made a mish mash of different live performances to share on this special day. Sadly this was my 3rd attempt as KZbin blocked 2 of the videos as they would not allow Live Aid performance ( even just 30 seconds at one stage) to be included. I loved creating this and hope you join me in wishing Benjamin a Happy Heavenly 75th Birthday. I would like to thank Brian K. O'Malie from Benjamin Orr : The Legacy who sent me some of the audio files I added with Benjamin speaking to the audience. Thank you, my friend. I intend to celebrate his life by playing The Cars' music and the album The Lace and demo songs by Benjamin all day. I created and uploaded this video under the terms of Fair Use. No copyright infringement intended. I added photos of different eras and I used my my own photos as a backdrop and some from a crazy thunderstorm we had here in and do own copyright to these and then added images I found of Benjamin and the band that I found online to create these photo montages. The live footages are from from the Midnight Special, @1.45 from my old home country Germany's Musikladen , at 2.31 from The Cars Unlocked DVD and @3.09 from Heartbeat City Concert Tour, and ending with @4.39 Benjamin in black leather saying Good Night at the Door to Door Concert Tour. I added some video and added different audio to this of an interview excerpt to end the video. I hope you like it. Thank you, I am replying with my new channel as I am uploading a video and didn't wish to interrupt the progress as it is a huge file. I actually celebrated twin brother's Barry and Paul Ryan's heavenly 75th birthday last October on my new channel and I am still devastated by the passing of Barry in 2021. I wish I would have had the software I do now, when I created Benjamin's videos as I am now repairing videos all the way back to 1965 ( a live TV performance) and also I wish I had been able to announce what I did for the new channel. Sadly this did not happen with Benjamin's music. I was able to announce a new release, an album fans never knew about ( I did as my father had heard a demo) from 1977 and a record company released all of Barry's solo albums and singles as CDs from 1969 to 1979. I wish that something like this would have happened for the fans of The Cars and Benjamin. However on a personal note, as I knew Barry and Paul, this was such heart warming moment when this arrived last week. I have made so many friends through the music and my channels and am grateful. When I read a warm and kind comment like you wrote, it touches my soul and I thank you, this is why I do what I do, to hopefully leave something positive for fans to enjoy, Lots of love from sunny Tasmania, Tia

@@barryryan1948 What a lovely reply! Just know that people like me who didn’t discover Benjamin until this past year, appreciate channels like yours. I do realize that you are now creating one for Barry and Paul but Ben’s videos are like gold nuggets just as you created them. I was born 2 months before Ben and have been into rock ‘n roll all my life but by 1983 in my small town, the local station started interspersing RAP between rock and I finally quit listening thus missed The CARS with the exception of “Drive”.

I was actually ( I do not channel swap often 😅 but am downloading an animal video right now as we have pets as well as wonderful wildlife that visits every day so I share this on my more personal channel) on my own personal channel whilst a roast is cooking for dinner ( Down Under we are celebrating a public holiday today, the King's birthday) , it is 5pm in Tasmania and was thinking about your kind comment when I saw a notice for your reply and feel so touched. When I create music videos I tend to put my heart and soul into each of them. I love music, am married to a musician and to say my love for music began when my father bought home the 2 versions of Barry Ryan's Eloise is no overstatement. I was quite for over 10 minutes, I think the original version was 6 minutes long, the second around 5 and half minutes long. I could see colours as I listen to that magical voice and this epic song which was a love song of epic proportions. I had never heard anything like it before ( nor since) and fell in love with Barry's voice as a 11 year old then and there without ever having seen him. Meeting him and finding out what a special man he was, well that was another huge story, but as an 11 year old this created my taste for a certain type of voice and songs that were epic and I never ever recovered from that love. I was blessed with getting to know Barry later and also Paul to a lesser degree and to me there will be never anyone like Barry or Paul. They were the reason for every singer, every song I liked after this. Barry became an acclaimed photographer, taking incredible shots of Sting, Paul McCartney ( he and Paul of course knew the Beatles as they performed on some of the TV shows) and politicians like Ronald Reagan as well as actors like Hugh Laurie, Anthony Hopkins. Barry had such an unique artistic style and he was the one who encouraged me to learn photography when I was telling him I did not wish to be a model anymore and was bored with this. Without Barry there would not have been any videos with photos and photo montages. So I owe a lot to his talent. I have been a fan of Benjamin's since I first saw and heard them on their clip for "Let's Go" , I still remember waiting for their albums ( I had to order import albums at the time) and almost crying when I found out that Benjamin did not sing every song. I was so disappointed and it took a while for me to get over this and love the band anyway but for me it was always about his vocals, that smooth voice that cut rock it out if he wanted to , again all because of Barry Ryan. Music is one of my great passions. Sorry for the oh so long reply but I did not wish properly and explain, wishing you a wonderful Monday and week, Love, Tia

I 'retired' from this channel almost a year or so ago. I returned to my first love of music as I found out my dear friend had passed away and wanted to do something quieter and more personal. I didn't realize that fans would find my videos on my personal channel so I ended up having to create a new channel and Facebook page for Barry Ryan. Sadly I do not have enough time to update videos here on this channel but there are so many videos here anyway. But it means that everything , dates etc will be ' outdated'. Nevertheless, it is lovely to see so many fans still finding Benjamin's music and my videos. Lots of love from Tasmania, Tia💙

Thank you, for your warm words, enjoying our summer holidays. I have Long Covid , so it's a bit challenging to say the least at times. Being ' retired' from this channel and page has given me more free time so I am glad for this. I also reconnected with my German heritage when I created a channel for my beloved Barry Ryan , I knew Barry and he and his twin brother shaped my taste in music and I decided to create a channel in loving memory of these 2 wonderful souls and musicians. www.youtube.com/@barryryan1948/featured . By doing this , I connected ( although Barry and Paul were English, they have still got a lot of fans in Germany & the continent) with a lot of fans in Germany and by doing this I started writing in German and speaking in German again and feel as if I have found a ' lost ' or almost 'forgotten' part of my soul. GORGEOUS, 💜💜💜💜💜 this Tia!!! Just what we needed...couldn't agree more! I'd been oblivious to time/dates for over a week from an illness...almost missing my own child's birthday 😳. So didn't even realize what day it was when I was crumpled over in the wee am hours praying for sleep. Then remembered my never fail instant tranquility...THE LACE. It worked. As long as Benjamin's voice played, I was able to rest. A couple days later when I was feeling better, I realized that had been Benjamin's birthday. A lot of people probably don't get this, but I believe Benjamin's fan's do...there really is magic in his music. I feel it every time I hear it. It is just as much today - if not more - than back then. I'm truly thankful for that & TO YOU TIA for ensuring others get to learn of & love it also. You never fail to do it in such a stunningly beautiful way!!! 🌌🌕 🧡🌕🌌

I am going through some illness myself and even though I created more videos was only able to upload the 3 as of this date. I do relate to how being ill can certainly make it so hard to keep up with days of anniversaries etc. I am glad you are feeling a bit better and hope you keep feeling better every day 🧡 I understand and agree with you about the healing power of the music and how we, the fans, feel there is magic in Benjamin's music.
