@BenCulture11 жыл бұрын
You know what? This song is really, really fun to play on guitar! Especially Ric Ocasek's opening rhythm guitar part. It's a sort of strumming on a power chord, where you hit the chord only on the off-beats (one-AND-two-AND-three-AND-four-AND). On the ON-beats, you don't bear down on the frets, so you get harmonics instead of the lower notes (mostly B or A). Ric also uses this technique in "You're All I've Got Tonight", later in the song, after the main riff has been established. Brilliant!

Wow, almost 40-years since their debut LP by the same name. Their music is timeless as is their live acts. They are the greatest in classic rock-n-roll as Beethoven and Bach is to the classics. Imagine, a whole new genre at that time which I did no know what to make of their sound. Its so unique and vibrant, so different that it just blew-out the end of the 70s in glorious fashion. The first three albums should be in everyone's record collection with all of the pops, scratches, and skips of reliving the 70s all over again.

It had to be amazing to have heard the Cars in clubs as they were perfecting the material on their 1st LP. The first thought had to be that you were hearing something new and fresh that was not out there. They were not an exciting band to see from a theatrical standpoint, though Benjamin Orr was eye candy for the girls and obviously had the rock star look. "Moving In Stereo" will forever be in my top 20 of "stranded on an island" songs to want.

@@RandySmith-g4vNice! I miss the spectrum. I'm pretty sure pink Floyd played the spectrum right around the early eighties and again in the mid nineties, which turned out to be one of their best live performances. Everyone liked playing the spectrum. It didn't seem to matter where your seats were, or whether or not you were on the ground floor, it was just a good place for live music. The music sounded just as good in the nosebleed sections as it did if you were on the floor. Too bad it's gone.

I was lucky enough to see The Cars live in a small Boston venue in the early 80s. They had added horns and sax and the effect was awesome. The same year I was at some party or other where Ric Ocasek showed up to hang out and be cool.
