Total apprecthion for what they did. Perfection, and blend when we all wanted their sound and songs. Just absalute kickin sound over and over and still.

That guitar lick sounded like a Clarence White lick from The Byrds in the late 60's early 70's.

So much attention for Benjamin Orr's vocals (which are great, of course) but to me this guy not only has a unique voice but he in large part defines the "Cars" sound, in my mind. Orr has it too, but there is a stronger jaded or cynical undercurrent in this guy's voice that just IS the Cars sound to me.

I totally agree. Ric was quirky- vocally too. He sounded like no other artist on the radio back then.

Ric has the signature voice of the band - without a doubt.

Their was so many great bands back then. They might have been over looked. But, not by me. I know greatness when I see it. And, make no mistake. The Cars were one of the great bands of the 20th Century. 🎸

I think the reason is that there was so many great bands back then, that people took it for granted and thought it would never end!

One of the great debut albums of all time! It was such a fascinating blend of old style rockabilly guitar riffs accompanied by new wave synthesizer.

Each one of those musicians was rock-solid. I believe that the blend of sounds produced by Hawkes and Easton was (is) quite unique.
