Acura missed out on making an NSx type R....all they had to do was remove the electric motors and batteries plus add 40hp on a slightly stiffer chassis........it would have cost less than the type S to build at the same time charging more for the limited production numbers😂😂

The NSX was way ahead of its time. Now twin turbo V6 hybrid supercars are very common. Artura, 296, MC20(not hybrid but V6). It was also blisteringly quick even for today’s standards, and objectively good looking. Hindsight will do this car very well

I used to sell Alfa Romeos at a dealership. Never even heard of it until I worked there. I like the drive and feel of it but I had multiple clients say they hated it after some time. Per factory recommendation, you have to change the timing belt at 30k miles. That’s just wild to me. I grew to hate them. Extremely overpriced too

SVT Contour was a great car with an awesome sounding engine. Handling was great, even if they had a pain in the butt hard size to find tire. And if they would have come with the 3.0L upgrade (taken from a donor Taurus), it would have been worth the extra cash.
@dsd174Ай бұрын
Can you explain how the TT was a flop having three generations over 25 years, that sparkled a flux of affordable sporty, stylish coupes in the car industry since its release and helping fight back the SUV craze in this period? Being fair, it wasn't a bonkers car in any aspect, it was built as niche car (imagine selling a 2+2 car for families), often a second or a single person's car, but it was constantly and positively compared to other entry level sport cars from Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and even some Alfa Romeo and Lotus of its time. All that said, it has sold more than 660.000 units in its run. Where's the flop in that?
@criticaleventАй бұрын
Probably because Audi just killed it due to poor sales. The most recent examples will definitely become collector cars. The R8s even more so.

My son looked seriously at a Focus RS new. All you stated was true, huge markups (at Pierre Ford in Seattle, what a slimy dealership known locally as the place to go when your credit sucked), credit app just to drive it (though my son is financially successful so he demanded to drive one without the credit check which they finally agreed to. Fifteen K over list at the time which they refused to budge on). End of story? He walked away and about two months later they offered it to him at list (oh boy!) and not soon after under list and would not stop calling him.

In my opinion: the NSX was... almost... perfect. Except, as you said, it was over-priced, Honda/Acura missed the boat because of the retail price, could have sold for less money and still made a profit ~ more importantly though, could have created its own niche sorta' like what GM did with the Corvette
@giojohn9807Ай бұрын
Most cars in this video Failed because they were too expensive for what they offered compared to other cars at the time. Sure the LFA is great and all but 300K when you could buy something faster for less The NSX was an expensive disappointment because people expected something else The Viper is a legend and one of my dream cars. But only 640 BHP for the price when you could get a 707 BHP Hell Cat for less. Perception matters the most when it comes to sales. All these cars although in the video were better than competition even though they had less power but that wasn't enough to sway people and justify the price

If they would have watered down the tech and luxury (make it cheaper) of the LFA, changed some body panels, put a turbocharged 6cyl in there (probably their V6) and called it "Supra" - it would have sold like hot cakes. Look what it did with a BMW. GTRs are selling at a price point above 100k. I can't imagine that they couldn't slim down the LFA and reconfigured it to a Toyota and keep it under 110k

Well I thought my car may end up here. The Cadillac ATS-V. They didn’t sell. Or I’m not sure if it was on purpose that Cadillac only made 2100 of them. From 2016 to 2018. And it was a mix of sedan and coupes. In 2017 they only made 579. I don’t have an exact number on how many were coupes and sedans. I have a sedan 8 speed automatic. I bought in 2017. In 2019 they only made coupes. 300 of them. Now it’s been moved to the CT4. And you can get a V trim but not on par with the original V. The only CT4 V that is on level is the Blackwing. Anyhow I will tell you my ATS-V is a rocket. And the only one I’ve ever seen on the road. So I love having a car that is as fast as a Mustang GT or Camaro SS but not something anybody ever sees. I get looks to this day. Comments. I’ve been asked “what kind of Cadillac is that?”. Everybody knows the CTS-V. But not aware of this not so little brother.

@@ACLMSC someone asking about your car doesn't make it amazing that's the F&F effect. Lots of people asked me about my RZ as well. It was slower than my MR2 didn't go around corners that well and was more of a GT car rather than a fun Japanese sports car. Not saying it was a horrible car just that it was very overrated and it's value was more around it's popularity rather than it being a fantastic car.

@@dylan4972 The car was amazing. Toyota put a lot of engineering into the Supra from the hollow carpet fibers to the aluminum hood (that flexed in your hand) to the unique dash layout. This was my dream car and I owned it before the Fast and Furious 2JZ hype took over. The turbo competed with top exotics at the time. To each his own but the MK4 was a special car to me.
