i studied this case in college. The reason why he only got 10 years is because the crime he didn't actually murder anyone he would just be in charge of dissolving the bodies in acid. He only got penalized for being part of a cartel but not for his actions. The actions he didn't are not established as a crime in MX so they couldn't really charge him with more than just being part of cartel.

I once heard of an online story were members of a Mexican cartel/gang hung up the dead bodies of people who made them mad. An old man then said to a young man/officer that the cartel was being kind in that instance. The young man asked something like "what do you mean?" The "caustic soda" is sodium hydroxide (NaOH). It's a strong base meaning the opposite of an acid. The Fluoroantimonic acid shown on the cartoon black board is a super acid that would possibly dissolve a body. However, the large volumes needed would be a severe safety risk since it violently reacts with water and moisture (air). Dissolving large amounts of organic material in a container would basically result in an eruption. Fumes also severe safety hazard.

Whats crazy is that my aunts house in Guadalajara was said to be apart of this. They live here in USA and rented one of their properties out in Guadalajara later to come out we discovered that the FBI and Mexican government literally confiscated their whole property and stated it was a crime scene. We later saw pictures of the worst scene I’ve ever seen, barrels, personal documents scattered even bones. It took 6 years for my family to get that house back and we came to discover that they found 66 documents of Missin people in that house with there apparently being more but due to the acid there’s literally nothing but just a horrible horrible stench. When I was in the military I had to work around acid one time they gave me rubber gloves that would go up to my shoulder & a Mask..I had to take the glove off one day because something was jammed up.. This is kind of like the "green cremation" method that is beginning to take off. Take a body, dump it into a vat of lye, apply pressure, heat, and agitation and eventually drain the liquid. You are then left with some bones that can be ran through a bone crusher and scattered or disposed of in a landfill or whatever. I mean, given to the surviving loved ones. Unfortunately, the thing is, once you're in a cartel, you can never get out. You can't even turn yourself in since most of the authorities has ties with the cartel. Even if you survived prison, you might not live for long after release. So even if we gave the dude the benefit of the doubt that he might have wanted out of all this, there really wasn't much he could have done if he wanted to live on. In such cases where your cartel has heavy ties with the authorities, it would probably be better to just stay loyal to your family than to rat them out (since you might even be living a good life in the prison anyway if you had a high rank). So don't just blame the man or the cartel. The ones who are responsible for peace keeping are the ones whom should really be blamed.

I've seen and read enough to know what kind of shape he could receive these bodies in, and he would've also been very aware that if he became a liability in the slightest way, it would be very easy for him to be processed by one of his henchmen and poured into the drains he himself had established - after getting his extremities cut off and being brutally mutilated while pumped full of adrenaline, as to not pass out while being taught his last lessons. This man could very well have been in on it all or he could've been caught up in a whirlpool which either feeds you bread or tears you apart. Either way he had no choice and he was smart enough to not lose his head. Also the fact that the war on drugs is still blazing away tells me that the people in charge (whoever is in charge of this international weave of money and violence) prefer people having no choice, as long as it doesn't get to close to Congress or Bruxelles
