And out the three of them, Sara cared the least about singing. She only did it as long as she did for her kids. I believe she sorta blamed the music for costing her her marriage. Can you even imagine how great The Original Carter Family could have been? I mean they were great but tention was high. They split pretty early. Had they stayed together?? Can you even imagine the legacy they could have left?? Much much bigger than they did. That's for sure...

My mother died November 29, 2006; 10:30 pm. The night was sleeting with snow and cold; my family stood around her death bed and said our goodbyes as the undertaker took her out till the hearse turned down the block out of site we sung at the door Will The Circle Be Unbroken.

I grew up a few miles from there and the little black and white film at 2:59 shows why Poor Valley was so poor -- bad farming practice. They were plowing hillsides with mules in the sixties, I remember seeing them do it. I saw that kind of farming in Wadlow Gap in the mid seventies. It destroys the land. You need to terrace that land to make it productive, but nobody knew how to do it. In those days there was corn and tobacco, and some gardening. Now all they do is run cattle on it. That's how you turn the land of milk and honey into a desert.

Hello all, I am a Music student at the University of Southampton (UK) conducting a paper on authentic country music, and what makes country music “real”. If you class yourself as a country music fan, it would be great if you could reply to this saying what you think makes country music authentic and why. For example, is this song authentic? Why? It would help my research a lot, thanks!

Lord am I getting tired of the likes of mister benedicto down below me... yessir, absolutely, Jesus Christ is for all, He didn't suffer on that cross for one blood or one nation but for all, and that all might know that they are saved if they will just accept it and repent... at the same time our music does not stop bein' ours cause foreigners and Yankees listen to it, God bless you that you do, God bless you for your support, but don't assume too much, give credit where it's due, pay your dues and don't carpetbag on us alright?
@mosotogari11 жыл бұрын
Yankees? Do people still use that term? You know the civil war ended almost 150 years ago right? That's about 5 generation, that means you're great, great, great, great granddaddy maybe fought in the war. People like you are just as bad as the blacks still complaining about slavery. It's way over and done with, deal with it because it don't have shit to do with you... And who the fuck say's carpetbag anymore? Have you been watching too much justified?
@Senkino5o11 жыл бұрын
Ryan McCormack justified? that's been off the tube for months and months now hasn't it? you think that's an authentic sight of the south? they film it in California with mostly Californian actors... c'mon now, I like that show but that ain't the truth anyway, what're you saying? cause it's old it didn't happen? it doesn't matter? if you are from the north/the left coast then you are almost assuredly a yankee, like it or no, that's what y'are, words mean things as I am from the south I am a southerner, I have a proud tradition and heritage, culture and cause that I will defend it has nothing to do with me? all history affects us all, for how did we get here if not by years and years of the endless struggle of man in this wicked world of woe? if you wanna talk about the war of northern aggression that of course, affects us all today in the south, we were a nation richer than the north, much of our wealth was tied up in our slaves, we were the only country in the world where we were not reimbursed for the ending of the sin of slavery and there was that little thing of burning all the fields, tearing up the track and keeping the yankee boot at our neck for a hundred years since if you ignore history you are doomed to repeat it, for we are nothing if not a product of it so who says this? who says that? I say carpetbag and yankee, you say "lol" and "yolo", I say y'all and yonder, you probably say "you guys" and 'there' have it how you will
@Dallas_K10 жыл бұрын
Ryan McCormack Knock it off! Stop reading something hostile and derogatory into everything you see. Shut up and observe more closely and you will be amazed how your vision improves.
@mosotogari10 жыл бұрын
Dallas, Eli's comment WAS hostile and derogatory in so far as that it suggests that "Yankees and Foreigners" have no right to enjoy country music, so I don't think I'm "reading" anything into it. You don't know me, so I think it is unfair to categorically state that I read hostility into EVERYTHING, although at times I admit that I am guilty of just that, this, other than in a few exceptional cases, is human nature. I am, however, prepared to admit when I am wrong, so if you can show me exactly where my mouth obfuscated my vision I would be more than happy to listen and take your words into consideration...
@coyotesong10 жыл бұрын
Ryan McCormack Ryan, we're still fighting the war that you alluded to having ended a century and a half ago. It's not fought now with guns and ammo, but make no mistake that it continues on, unfortunately. Just look at the fact that House GOP leader Steve Scalise addressed a racist organization that was founded by KKK David Duke who was almost elected Governor of Louisiana a decade or so ago. Race is what largely defines American politics....and that's a direct legacy of having fought a war that ended slavery. And just for the record, my family roots are both in Arkansas and up north.
