The plaintiff and defendant became friends because the defendant dated the plaintiff’s brother. The defendant went to the plaintiff’s house and left the door open, causing the plaintiff’s dog to escape. Her dog never returned. The plaintiff is suing for the cost of dog flyers and emotional distress. The defendant argues she never left the door open. She’s countersuing for slander.

If the plaintiff's mom was at the home, isnt she responsible for keeping an eye on the dogs, while this woman moves chairs? Come on now! I'd have been more ticked at my mother really!

I was about to comment the same thing! If the mom was there, she should have been responsible since they are the family dogs. She used the analogy about toddlers, in the case of having toddlers, the person responsible for watching the children would be the one to blame. I don’t think this was a fair ruling.

Yes unless she was negligent. If she broke a vase mom wouldn't be responsible because she broke it. In this case she was negligent when she left the door standing open knowing dogs were there and uncaged.

It was the plaintiff's responsibility to have the dogs secured while a visitor was in the home moving furniture. Was the defendant suppose to wander through the house catch the dogs and put them in the plaintiff's bedroom before moving the chairs? 🤔 If anyone comes to my home it is my responsibility to make sure my pets are contained not the delivery person or visitor.

I liked the the Plaintiff's correlation between a toddler and a dog. 👍 The responsibility, or lack thereof, are the same. What should any reasonable person do? The Defendant failed in her responsibility.

That's unreasonable. A dog cannot compare to a toddler in a justice system predicated on a reasonable person’s standard. A dog can be placed in the area of a home, unattended until the person moves all the items. No one should do that to a toddler without some monitoring device in the same room. It's the owner of the home's responsibility to secure their pets, not the visitors.

Here we go again with JM ruling with his emotions and not logic. If he would really stop running his mouth when the people were testifying. He just might hear vital information. The woman said over and over that the damn dogs were there the first trip and the mother put them away. Then they were NOT there when she came back for the second trip. How freaking hard is that to understand?!?!

Well I'm going to keep watching but Judge Mathis keep interrupting the plaintiff while she's explaining it and she keeps saying that the defendant told her that she left it open all that and he kept interrupting I don't know if he's deaf or dumb or both learn how to close his mouth and open his ears and his heart because he doesn't seem to do that often enough
