I think this speaks to how weird the job of video game voice actors is. It's such a tight knit community so they have like 50 people play literally everyone in every single game.

Taliesin was the biggest surprise for me. But that's probably because for the 100s of hours I've listened to him he's been doing a monotone british accent first, irishish second, and an american accent with a completely different inflection third. Hence why hearing him speak very seriously and intensely in his normal american accent was very hard to place.

I wasn't paying attention to the voice actors to be fair; in my second playthrough (or half of it cuz I never finished 2nd playthrough) I recognized the voices but couldn't place them... They are amazing actors. I can't wait to see what's in store for them in the future.

You know, I don't think I've ever heard Taliesin as a VA before...... I would never be able to tell him from another character and I hope that's a compliment. With Marisha and Sam I can tell it's them clear as day, but listening to Taliesin's voice lines over and over again I can't tell that it's him at all. Even the other VA's when listening in I can tell "Oh hey, it's this person" but not Taliesin... damn pyramid.

Taliesin and Travis have their regular voices and their acting voices. They seem to use the acting voices rarely outside the booth. Travis's is mostly recognizable as it's just Roy Mustang. Tal does so little actual mainstream voice work that he's got fewer examples so his is less recognizable, though you can hear it in the BackBlaze ads on Critical Role when he's involved. Still noticably him if you squint your ears. I find this fascinating!

Honest the whole cast is super talented but it never ceases to amaze me how much range Laura Bailey has. Of all the cast she is the one that I often can't even tell it's her voice, even when I KNOW it is. Travis is probably second in that realm. Their baby is inheriting some insane genes :)

But their voices I usually can recognize pretty easily, whereas I could listen to characters voiced by Travis, Liam and Talisien (and sometimes Sam when he changes his voice up more) for an hour without the slightest hint of recognition. :D
