With Jonathan narrating, this video shows the process of casting our K3 turntable at OK foundry in Richmond, Virginia.
K3 is an exercise in the design ethos "form follows function" with no extraneous elements, employing a cast iron chassis using a minimum number of parts, composed of hypo eutectic gray iron with high graphite content, itself internally molded with hollow chambers filled with a special liquid and particulate matter designed to dampen and absorb vibrations.

From idea to real life, We have all mostly forgotten where things really come from and the work and care involved. Wish you could make a million of them. Thanks Jonathan

Thanks for presenting to many people, I'm sure something they've never seen. I have always had a passion and curiosity about industrial methods and history and am glad to see your pride in OMA still appreciating and using these processes in your beautiful creations.

This is a highly satisfying video and commentary, in a world that has become to use disposable items, OMA is the exception, and as a perfectionist and music fanatic, I certainly appreciate this... made in the U.S. of A.

Mr. Weiss, I haven't had the opportunity to test any of ΩΜΑ's fantastic equipment yet, but one thing is certain, you really are passionate about what you do and know how to promote your products, the videos are a spectacle in themselves! Greetings from Brazil.

I would love the chance to apprentice in that foundry; talk about the pinnacle of mechanical art and production. I deeply appreciate OMAs incorporation of a sort of 'wabi sabi' concept with their audio art projects...to allow imperfections to exist and even highlight as you work to make something 'perfect'. Stunning art.

Very cool. This was like an episode of How It's Made. I hope you show more of the construction process all the way to the finished table.

The level of craft, skill and attention to detail, really shows why this turntable costs as much as it does. Such objects are beyond the reach of most people. Nevertheless it is fascinating listening and seeing the evolution of such rarified mechanisms.

Very very very interesting, but why all that effort just to play a vinyl record? The extravagance of your work is beyond mind blowing. If you really "love" music there are other ways of listening to it in very High Fidelity. This is a fetish like other fetishes where the way of doing something is more important than the act itself. Is reinventing the wheel in a weird new over complicated way next?
