The castle hill railway in Freiburg

In Freiburg, a little away from the center, a funicular runs up to the local recreation area on the Schlossberg. The system is approved as an elevator and therefore runs fully automatically. The counterweight to the cabin runs inside the track construction. After a relatively flat ascent, the route becomes significantly steeper. Nevertheless, the cabin floor remains horizontal. The change in incline is compensated for by raising the cabin on one side. At 6 euros, the ride is probably one of the most expensive elevator rides in Baden-Württemberg.
