I'm loving this game. This Special Edition is my first time playing but I can see why it has such a great reputation. The new solo mode feels great and I finally won a game this morning with 185 points.

I love this special edition - and this solo mode - so much. Had the opportunity to playtest the "chautauma" and it was so good I knew this was going to be amazing. I'm not usually one for giant "deluxified" games but, c'mon. So good, so satisfying in every way. No regrets.

Great job. I agree that the Special Edition without acrylic is fine; there are no redundant pieces, and everything fits properly in the inserts. I will back the reprint.

It's a great game regardless of the edition or components. The Special Edition is nice for people who love the game and want a "forever version" to play for the long term. But picking up a cheap Alea printing is an amazing value. I'm keeping mine for nostalgic reasons. I just love seeing the game getting the love it deserves. I only wish the new solo mode was available for all editions. Thanks so much for checking out the video!

Late to the game (literally), but im having a spirited discussion with the TV 😅 At the 55:20 mark, I think you could have used both workers to change your 5 to a 3 to put out the castle. Then the bonus action from the castle would have allowed you to put out the pigs. You would have completed a single cell space for an additional three points, but then also all of the red spaces for an additional 5 points.

@@TotallyTabled yeah it didn’t really matter much on your gameplay as u kicked chateaumas’ butt. 😂 I’ve also only realised that getting the silver from your mine is done at the end of the turn rather than at the start. That’s why I think people (me included) forgets to get the income before counting the final scores.

I really hope it helps you get the game to the table. Let me know how it goes. Sometimes it is easier to play two handed with the normal rules first, so you can learn the flow of the game and then tackle the solo rules afterwards. Burgundy is a classic and this version with the solo mode is fantastic, if unfortunately a bit expensive. You can always try the game for cheap on Board Game Arena or even digitally on Steam or mobile apps. Great two player couples game as well. Thanks so much for checking out the video, Jen. You can test those dice to make sure they are balanced. Just stick them in water and if they rotate to a particular side they are dodge.

Mostly just money. I've never paid for sundrop and the acrylic tiles look awesome, but I couldn't justify the extra cost. I think the cheapest version had some value (although still pricy) with all the expansions and duel layer boards and nice art. I'm very happy with this edition. And the solo mode rocks! @@TotallyTabled it didn't help me get annihilated by Chateauma 240 to 203 on "easy" with vineyards. It got 66 points from vineyards to my 29. Had a lot of fun though and your video definitely made it easier. The rulebook is one of the better ones as well! Love how it mimics a real person incredibly well!
