I was a silver-service-waiter at a wedding just like this when I lived in London many years ago. The Bride got up to say what was only meant to be a few words, but she rambled on with a tirade of abuse and snide remarks (and she wasn't even drunk). After what seemed like an age, she finally finished by saying "And I would like to say a big thank you to my mother in law, who is 'Bella Magazines Slimmer of the year' and I have to say shes just as fat now as she was when she started the fucking thing"... with that, one of the bridesmaids got up and smacked the bride across the face with a bouquet of flowers, and then the whole thing became bun fight at the Ok Corral.. the headwaiter started shouting to us "get all the knives and forks off the table, off the table - NOW".. I think he was foreseeing them all stabbing each other.. haha, a crazy day, but fond memories.

@@Dylan-go2hi possibly just similar set design; perhaps it's unambiguously symbolic of a type of place or ritual that is commonly recognizable as a component of british marriage customs; similar to the phenomenon of tv courtrooms in any given region always having more or less the same design, or at least including similar stereotypical features as a matter of convention, possibly because the public are assumed to need all the help they can get understanding what is going on, and it makes it easier if portrayal of various common elements of the local culture always conforms to some convention that the public have arbitrarily come to expect;
