I believe it's a mag-lite alloy. Not a lightweight reel though it is for the size. My units are in storage so going by memory. Not plastic.

Does the 8000 share the same bady as the 10000 and 14000?...im waiting for the 8000 in the mail.

I don't believe so. I have 2 8000 which are my workhorses. I did get a 10K & 14K but never used it yet, only spooled it and tested it onsight. I found the 10K to be an unusual size. The last was the 6K. Would like that for plugging!

Thanks Gary! I'm lacking the 6K but i really don't need it as i have quite a few 6000's of almost every other type of spinning reel. Of everything i mostly use the 8K's & my 4K.

This a slow-oscillating reel?

No sir, the length of the rise isn't long enough. A good example of slow oscillation is the Okuma Surf 8K & Shimano Ultegras that have a higher spool height to compact the line on tighter. If you need faster retrieves a slow oscillation reel would work against you.

Hi. I recently purchased my okuma cj 5000 and I'm getting a slight noise and wobble from the spool when reeling in my Lures. The reel also feels hard to crank sometimes. Should I be concerned as I've owned many other okuma Reels and never had this problem. Thanks
