I wish I lived where hockey was available bc I was naturally an ice skater thanks to growing up either rollerblades as my transport. But here football is the main sport, in Texas. But I am not surprised in the slightest the Celts pioneered hockey. But I swear I thought I heard this sport came from Norway at one point.

I believe that hockey hair - the mullet - is also of Celtic origin. At least they had the mullet (or cúlán) in medieval Ireland.

Etymology; From old French/Germanic word Hoquet, a Shepherd stick with a hook.(Shepherd crook) in french, Hoquet and Hockey sound exactly the same, you can even with Hook/hooked make a relation and the Shepherd stick. the Iroquois word "hoghee" meaning "it hurt" is a other very possible option. That guy clearly did half of the job!!🤣🤣 you have more French and Iroquois in hockey than Irish/Scottish/British!! La Crosse Française is the ancestors of all your version! like the language.... English is 40ish% French!! quick la ca canne= hockey vrs Hoquet/hoghee= Hockey 🤣 not hard to compute tabarnak de kawliss!!

Once again, How the Irish Saved Civilization finds another way to make life better for us all.

The modern sport of ice hockey was developed in Canada, most notably in Montreal, where the first indoor game was played on March 3, 1875. It draws influence from shinty which originated in Scotland, as well as field hockey which originated in England.[3]

Thank you for the video. Hurling is the only sport I still watch all the time. I don't know what it is I used to watch basically every sport but over the years I just stopped. I'll say in the past 10 years maybe a little longer I haven't watched a full quarter of a game of anything besides Hurling. I know definitely never at my house probably when I'm out at a bar or lounge I'll watch whatever's on.

Irish Hurling is the game and the sticks are Hurleys. The game and sticks still called the same thing. I’m surprised this didn’t make it into the show. Good shows tho generally

The audio is off by about a second, makes it tough for lip readers. I did try to refresh… it didn’t help. I’m only a couple of minutes in to the video, let’s hope it gets better.

as a French-Canadian/Mohawk from Montréal..... you did half your job big time buddy!!! the French and Iroquois laugh at you!! the Iroquois played on the Fleuve St-Laurent with skate with bones blades in 1740. La Crosse Française precede all the Irish/Scothish/British version. you even use a picture of the 1884 hockey game in Montréal at McGill University!!! pas fort le grand!! Etymology; from the old French/Germanic word "Hoquet"... a Shepherd stick with a hook.... Shepherd Crook. Hoquet and Hockey sound exactly the same in french. you can even make a relation with hook/hooked ... Crook. the Iroquois word "Hoghee" meaning "it hurt" is a other option... again sound very similar and look similar. So my friend.... "kick la Ca Canne" = Hockey .... or Hoquet = Hockey!! not hard to compute. Surgar Can .... Canne à Sucre in french. English is a Creole language, meaning it use multiple existing languages to create a new one. In the English language.... French is the base with 40ishh%. you should Seriously make a part 2!!

I seem to remember reading a book about the Bretons in which they also had a hockey like game called bazhig kamm or 'bent stick'. I'm wondering if Irish/Scottish migrants brought it there too?

while gaelic is a celtic term(used by celts to denote a type) gaels are not celts, they are scythians, attributed as wild men(the type gael denotes) by the britons(who were in fact, celts.
