People need to settle their visa situations out before they start such families or brace themselves for a possible separation and sort out each other's willingness to move to another country. Why are you creating responsibilities with someone knowing that you are not in a stable position in terms of legal status? Immigrants are fully aware of the possibility of deportation, or not even deportation, but the limited life span of their visa and the likelihood or lack their of, of acquiring permanent residence. Citizens are also full aware of this or can make themselves aware. The government is not breaking up families. The government is enforcing laws that both parties were privy to prior to creating children. People need to be more responsible with regard to creating families, especially having children. Wanting them is not a good enough reason.

Having mixed race children in my family and been a tiny bit sri lanken myself, I've been brought up thinking mixed race is normal. My grandmother wasn't so honest, trying to hide the fact she wasn't pure white because she could get away with that. I look even whiter than her, but am very proud of my mixed race roots.
