Okay I dont really see any comments about the formalities so here goes. 2NE1 debut in May 2009 with the song Fire under YG entertainment. Their debut was very much anticipated and their debut song didnt disappoint the least since it straight went to #1 on all charts. It was so well liked that it became a phenomena in Korea. It is still to this day considered one of the - if not the - most successful debut and held a large view count on multiple platforms including KZbin untill 2015. Their follow up song I Dont Care was even more succesful. They won the Best New Female Artist, Best Music Video (Fire) and Song of the Year (I Dont Care) all within their debut year in 2009. They popularity was no joke. Their fandom are called Blackjack. They have had success with every release but have only had 2 full albums (To Anyone from 2010 and Crush from 2014) in their 7 years of being active 2009-2016. They had their highest peak with each comeback but literally became untouchable in 2014 with their comeback titled Crush, but ironically at this time investigations were opened towards the member Park Bom who was taking methamphetamine against ADHD, a kind of drug, which was illegal in Korea. This sparked a 'scandal' and the member's situations was poorly handled by her company. In an attempt to protect her and 2NE1, YG put her on hiatus from 2NE1 activites to "reflect", this only backfired as the situation got out of hand, for her and 2NE1, and her mental health also worsened. In early 2016 the member Minzy annouced her departure from 2NE1 and YG, calling upon unfair treatment and health problems due to this. Later that year 2NE1 disbanded and made an official goodbye song to their fandom titled Goodbye in 2017. The group members CL (born 1991) and Dara(1984) are still with YG, while Minzy(1994) is in The Music Works ent. since 2016 and Park Bom(1984) in Dnation since 2018. 2NE1 are known for many things but people always agree on 2NE1 being the group whose success is looked up to by many idol groups. They became icons within their first year and have achieved multiple milestones with their different approach to music. Girl crush is a widely known and used concept but 2NE1 proved that even within this category, you can still change and challenge the statement. They have some of the most unexpected and unique songs that seem to have been noted by many to be hard to cover since it would lack the 2NE1 feel. Same goes for their brother group BIGBANG.
