Skip is so good at this stuff. He doesn’t only speak from his point of view but sees the pov of most hunters. Skip takes a common sense approach but is also very well informed. Thanks for having Skip as a guest!

Hopefully he goes into the mineral thing for soil. My food plot got significantly better after adding Sulphur. Been looking hard last 2 mths for information on trace minerals. Found a book ideal soil. Pretty good information.

Could not agree more with everything, Skip said in this podcast. Every hunter that is concerned about their state (including the “celebrity hunters”) NEED to speak up and need to speak up NOW. It’s time to unite and speak as one voice.

Unfortunately, a lot of state wildlife agencies care more ab license sales than actually helping lol me and my neighbors tried reporting EHD a few years back bc we found a pile of dead deer (mostly bucks) all in or around water in the middle of summer. There were confirmed cases in the counties around us and the counties across the river in our neighboring state yet the essentially called us dummies and wouldn’t even come out an look at it lol I’m afraid the majority of state wildlife agencies have little to no interest in actually fixing things, hell it took my entire life for my DNR to drop our bag limit on bucks down to 2 😂

we bought our 360 acre northeast mo farm in 95 and back then none of the hunting shows and i know because i watch them all, rarely mentioned mo, Now we are surrounded by outfitters and tv shows and every one comes here and hunts for cheap, So ya we are in the same boat luckily we have great neighbors,

Whats going on the last month with these. Did you get a strike? I only realized you guys dropped a new pod because of a youtube short. And it only has 3 views i feel like thats not even possible.

It’s just like the downfall of duck hunting. Commercialization has ruined it. We blame everyone and everything, but money is always the culprit.

Yep greedy corporations.They never have enough money.

I think bureaucrats are more to blame than anyone, they’re bought and paid for shills that do literally nothing lol the lack of public land and shrinking habitat in the Midwest is alarming and it seems no one is doing anything about it

The biggest problem is the large majority of hunters can and will never pass a 3yr old buck. Many people won’t pass a 2 yr old. Mainly because deer hunting for them is a side hobby, they are not completely ate up and obsessed with big deer. Different season dates and regulations will help but only to an extent. When a 3 year old 140 comes out he’s getting shot 90% of the time.

im curious why you said that about missouri ? I am pretty sure i know the reason but i would like to hear your opinion,

Wisconsin needs one buck tag one doe tag per license. Get rid of doe only seasons.

I live in Kansas. If you don’t own or lease good ground or use an outfitter then good luck. Southeast Kansas has been overrun with outbid state hunters on public land for 15 years and it’s to the point it ain’t worth hunting anymore. That doesn’t stop them from coming. It won’t get better because of the money it brings in. I don’t see these states doing anything about it unless people stop buying tags, which I don’t think will ever happen to a point it affects the income due to leases and outfitters. The wealthy will continue to support those aspects and the rest of us are just out of luck. Out of staters that pay hundreds to hunt a deer absolutely kill whatever to get something for their money. Exploited is an understatement in a lot of areas. They are destroying our resource
@nockreel11902 ай бұрын
There's definitely less hunters. There's just a public land hunting only trend thing going on. I'm 35 and when I was 18 I never seen other bow hunters. Now you have to scout the pressure before the deer.

I hunt to fill the feezer , not for the horns . Big Racks are nice but you cant eat them
@michiganwoodsman21992 ай бұрын
That had absolutely NOTHING to do with Michigan. It had to do with a guy talking Iowa down, and i can go there this fall and shoot a 150 and probably better! Its all about the how people treat the land and how they hunt. He said hes happy he can shoot THREE BUCKS!!!!! Thats insanity!!!!!

Funny listening to a guy try to make Iowa sound like Pa or Michigan. If it’s so hard why do the same people go out there as often as they can and come back with giants (even on public land). Dude forgets an average buck in Iowa is a giant anywhere else. 😂 Please just be real and say I hunt in the easiest place in the world to kill a mature buck so I don’t have to be a skilled hunter and move on!
@lukebryant50172 ай бұрын
While I kinda agree that’s a really dumb take. Sure there are more biggens walking around in Iowa and the terrain makes it a lot easier but don’t kid yourself bc consistently killing 5-7yr old bucks in any state isn’t an easy task
@emgraham212 ай бұрын
@@lukebryant5017 No doubt! I should have said big buck not mature. I was more making the point I don’t think it would be to difficult to go to Iowa and kill a 2-3 year old that dwarfs 5-6 year old bucks in other states. However I have never done it so maybe it is more difficult than I think it is.
