Its impressive the Chaos gods deigned to speak to him so plainly. Probably would have been more polite with those refusals, but that's just me. The Chaos gods have a track record of taking barbs from impudent mortals in stride. Suppose they know the game isn't over until its over. Khorne is probably the oddest experience, saying the catch-phrase of worshippers.

In my opinion, this was one of the coolest parts of the entire book, especially Nurgle’s reaction as the book makes Tzeentch and Slaanesh all sound so desperate while Nurgle is just remarkably cold when he states that he knows that he will not yield to him.

Imagine yourself on a sinking submarine, in a room without light, and water level rising, leaving smaller and smaller pocket of air to breathe. And when you made your last breath, when your lungs are filled with the toxic exhaust of your body, then you are desperate enough to call for His blessing, which frees you from the chains of flesh. Suddenly, you can breathe, you can even see. And you no longer need the world above to exist, and the eternal gratitude fiils you, becase He is a caring God. And you are his beloved.

I took Nurgle's refusal of Talos due to what Talos is on this moment: Hope. Nurgle knows those who still hold out hope are closer to what Tzeentch can offer, a true chance to change. Bu change and hope come from many forms. But not matter the form, it's hated by Nurgle

It’s never confirmed, but I believe it’s because Nurgle represented most of what Talos had come to resent about the Legion, and Nurgles gifts were nothing valued by Talos.

He’s a Night Lord, whose primarch was Konrad Kurze. He’s the leader of First Claw; a prominent squad from the Night Lords legion. I would highly reccomend the Omnibus - Nightlords by Aaron Demski-Bowden, which this excerpt is from.

He's a Night Lord. He turned against the Imperium because his father did, but his father only turned against the Imperium because he hated the Emperor. He had absolutely no love for Chaos at all, and resisted it to the very end. The Night Lords are traitor marines, but not true chaos space marines... at least, most of them.
