One of my favourite moments from the book with two of my favourite loyalist Primarchs! Even before Valdor comes in to sweeten the entire scene even further. Getting to see Sanguinius be himself, if a bit more forceful and Dorn seem almost a little uncharacteristically lost surrounding this incredible moment of brotherly love is spectacular and only makes the coming tragedy that much worse! More videos coming every day until the 4th this week So, like comment and subscribe to see those and support me! As always, my thanks for watching!

He actually believes he’s going to defy the fate of his vision and live, just as he says he’s done so many times before. He believes that since time is suspended in the warp, then there is no actual “day” for him to face Horus in, a day for him to die. He’s pretty explicit about it. His belief that he will triumph is the only reason the Emperor even lets him go with the team to the Vengeful Spirit.

@grey8931 His brothers knew the visions Sanguinius was having. In their own way, they were begging him NOT to give up his life this way. But Sanguinius mind was made up, and his compassionate acceptance of his fate made his brothers present genuinely upset, in their own ways. For as ruthless warriors as they are for the Imperium: They are ALL still human at heart...and the pain they feel knowing they were going to lose him hurt more than any injury. And Valdor is one of the biggest unbreakable hardasses, yet even HE couldnt be impassive about the knowlage the best of their primarchs, their own brother, was going to die fighting the source of the invasion of Terra alone.

I truly love how both primarchs acknowledge that this is it. This is the time when they realize just how bad things really are. Their father, a man of such power it rivals the gods, is being forced to act. Forgetting that he’s their father for a moment, this is essentially the equivalent of calling it code red and firing off nukes, ensuring mutual destruction. He is almost a god made manifest at this time. The emperor is akin to forcing your hand on the fire button for a nuclear missile. They realize this, that this is it.

The Horus Heresy books have just made me fall in love with the setting, it's so richly detailed and expressive. Even if things are horrible, there's still this ample feeling of wonder at all the forces and situations present. Things that normal humans just can't help but be awed by. Dorn's character is my favourite by far, his resoluteness not steaming from blind faith or arrogance; but rather from experience and knowledge of what his task is and who his enemies are.

Looks like a lot of people are seeing some Jesus parallels here, but it’s not quite like that. Sanguinius actually does believe he’s going to survive against Horus (the Emperor refuses to allow him to go with the team to the Vengeful Spirit until Sanguinius explains his need to avert this only remaining vision of his death, as he’s averted hundreds prior to that point), he doesn’t believe he’s going to his death, but it doesn’t detract from the greatness of this moment.
