You know, I started following you about 4 or 5 years ago, and I must say, I feel like a proud father watching one of my kids grow up! Not really the same, but you know what i mean. I was like " this guy had loads of talent, lets see where it goes" Well, here we sit 5 years later and I couldn't be happier for you. I love seeing good things happen to good people. And Lee too. I know he's really a business man more than a musician, but he really has done well for himself. Cheers mate!

Ordering a trans-black ML-1 from Riff City within the next couple days. Taking a big chance since it'll be the first guitar I've ever bought without actually feeling it in my hands let alone playing it first but with all the content on youtube related to this guitar, and the recent factory tour vids you've done, it's a lot of reassurance for a U.S buyer. I mean shit, your company does more QUALITY PR stuff than the bigger brands. You rarely see guitar companies take you into the factory where all the sweat and dirty work takes place. You know what I mean? Plus you're a player, and even though I know you're in this business to make money(let's face it, it's a passion but money is money), you take a lot of pride in your product AND let the public design it. It's a refreshing brand. It's one of the first "No bullshit" guitar brands I've seen in a decade. No gaudy inlays. No gaudy abalone plastered all over the guitar. No licensed floyds(aka pieces of shit), at least you used a proper GOOD vintage style trem instead of a shit modern trem. The list goes on and on. The ONLY issue I've heard (or maybe it's a rumor, who knows) is that the fretboard turns your fingers black after playing, which leads me to believe it's too heavily stained to cover up the quality of the ebony, but hey...if it's ebony on a $400-500 instrument, you can't really complain huh..although nothing wrong with rosewood either.

Great guitars. I've had a trans-black ML-1 for over a year, it's from the first production run and I can assure you the thing about the fretboard is false. I've never experienced that at all. There's actually very little stain on the wood, it's mostly just the natural colour and it looks awesome, very good quality ebony. I've also got an ML-7 from the first production run, and that hasn't turned my fingers black either. On top of that, I've been to Rob's flat and played all his guitars one by one, and none of them stained my fingers :P

This is one of the best sounding guitars I've heard in a long while. Really open and transparent sounding. The CAP-10 is going to be fucking epic and I can't wait to get hold of my pre-ordered one.

Yes. Putting a wooden block tight between the back of the trem block and the back of the cavity transfers more vibration into the body. It adds sustain and adds a slightly more solid tone if that makes sense. It just needs to be a nice tight fit so that it wedges in there. Try it and see. If you dont like the tone its easily reversed.

I own a Dean Z 1980 made in USA and recently got the ML-1 (the one from lost 21). Damn, chapman just rekt my dean, cause it has so much more sustain and more harmonics in it. Also, no matter that ml1 is made of mahagony (1 piece btw, what's barely seen on guitars nowdays, even on the gibson's, esp or whatever) it hasn't that fuzzy, buzzy sound on low tunings, it sounds pretty modern. And the price is just unbelievable. I really hope that Chapman guitars would go in masses worldwide. Good job Rob!

I am an occasional fretless bass player and my bass has no frets(obviously!),no fret markers,nothing at all--it's just blank ebony.But it does have strategically placed dots on the side which help. I can very quickly adapt to it after playing a fretted instrument.If I can anybody can,so go for it!

You can have coil tapped humbuckers made, but they're pretty uncommon. You'd add a wire (tap) halfway through winding the first coil, then halfway through winding the second. A split simply adds a wire (or two) between the two coils, but I digress.

I am digging the new headstock revision. Also will there ever be a ML-1 with 2 humbuckers with a fixed bridge with out a middle pickup?
@martduchatteau38811 жыл бұрын
I like the headstock ! I don't care about matching the colours. this guitar is so awesome
@Lemmysfinger11 жыл бұрын
Just hardtail one. You can put 4-5 springs on it and screw the claw in so the bridge sits tight, or if you really want to do it insert a piece of hardwood tight between the back of the block and the guitars body. My main strat has the wood block method and it resonates like mad. Either way the ML-1 sounds dark and fat.
@ChrisBonJovi11 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob, is production of these guitars going to be a limited thing, or are you (to the best of your knowledge) going to just keep churning them out? Because I'd love to buy one but it's not going to be financially possible in the near future, I was just wondering if someday I'd still be able to buy a Chapman guitar.
@WarrenStylard11 жыл бұрын
I love the guitars Rob! But why the reverse tele stock? It's the only thing holding me back from buying one of these, and the ml-2 doesn't have as nice a body.

Greetings Rob! I was just wondering how the bass-project is going?? I would love a Chappers bass guitar! Love your channel man! :DD
@RobChappers11 жыл бұрын
Just learn to set up a S-Type trem bridge - you can hardtail it in roughly 5 minutes with a screw driver.
@Lemmysfinger11 жыл бұрын
Actually the bridge is really good. If you set it up right (mine was set great straight out of the box) it should work fine especially with the tusq nut and grover tuners. Just remember to lube all the contact points. The only thing that lets it down from a tuning stability point of view are the butterfly string trees. They just have a bit too much friction. I replaced mine with roller string trees for about £5 and problem solved.
@markgowans8 жыл бұрын
I think you need to update your website Rob. According to it the ML1-Pro comes with a 3 way selector switch but every video ive seen on youtube shows it as 5 way.
