EXCEPT LEVI?! He got the shaft too. He was reduced to his obsession to kill Zeke and thought about barely anything else, he fumbled it each time, then when the moment came he was handed the opportunity to kill Zeke which would have been impossible to do in his current condition. It was just given to him on a silver platter and Zeke just gave his life up. I know we all like to circle jerk Levi being the only one to not be butchered but his damage is simply miniscule because he barely had much besides that hate boner for Zeke post time skip constantly being put on the back burner so the story could happen. That makes it seems like it's a fine ending for him but he was ruined too. In all honesty he should have just been killed by Zeke's explosion.

@@videobooks3 But that moment can unfortunately be criticized too. Because, why is he saluting his comrades? He doomed Paradis, we know that from the 8 extra pages now, making their sacrifices meaningless. They gave their lives up for freedom and the future of humanity within the walls, and Levi allied himself with the very people who had been the cause of their oppression, the cause of their horrific deaths, the cause of Paradis’ suffering at the hands of the Titans for a hundred years. Also what about the way he hated Zeke for killing Erwin, yet had no problem eating stew with Annie? Annie slaughtered his squad, most notably Petra who was romantically interested in him (since her father was concerned about marriage when he approached Levi after the failed mission to capture the Female Titan). While not one for openly showing emotion, Levi couldn’t make one snide comment in her direction? He had no problems dissing Zeke on the blimp, or the Marleyan soldiers that came to Paradis. Jean beat Reiner to a pulp for Marco without jeopardizing the Alliance. Levi couldn’t even show through dialogue that he’s not ok with Annie and is only teaming up out of necessity?

I don't want him to open a tea shop, I just want that man to die in peace. No matter how good a life he has henceforth, he would constantly be haunted by survivor's guilt and ptsd, not to mention crippled and dependent on others when he's always been an independent character. I'm on the fence about Levi surviving the Thunder spear. Him surviving because he's an Ackerman is such a plot armor it's not even funny. You mean to tell me that those spears can rip armored titans armor to shreds but cannot kill an Ackerman who is still a human made of flesh and bones?? Plus, it would have been such a beautifully tragic end for him. But I love him and Erwin too much so I'm kinda glad he survived and carried out Erwin's final order to kill Zeke but I dont like how it felt like he was basically attacking a straw dummy for all intents and purposes. After all this wild journey, it didn't feel cathartic. Fighting normal titans is already a pain in the ass, fighting titan shifters is a pain of the ass with extra steps and you need the other titan shifters to help but it will still be hard (especially if its the colossal titan), and it has been stated that the rumbling is literally the end of the world type of weapon and anti-titan weapons, and other titan shifters won't be that effective against it. And the fact that the Yeagerists will do everything to complete the rumbling. Also, the Alliance has limited resources. The worst thing about AOT after chapter-131 is the whole *Ymir- king Fritz toxic lovestory* theme which doesn't even makes sense and because of this theme ending literally looks lifeless compared to previous chapters . 1.And it looks like just to satisfy shippers this ship is made and if the anime is exactly like manga then the studio should add additional moments of reason for Ymir being in love with abusive,age-old, rapist king which would be very cursed and controversial for viewers to watch. 2.To change the Ymir's concept of toxic love is basically changing the entire finale in continuation to chapter-131 and even Mikasa kissing decapitated eren. In any sensible way I can agree that the above points are the literal reason why AOT fans are arguing about finale(Chapter-139) ** People should remember this at the very end Eren Yeager is responsible for death of 80% population and he fooled yeagerists faction for complete rumbling and if he didn't convinced Floch would never kill those innocent people and children of marleyans** *Alliance is responsible for death of Paradise because they didn't made peace with outside world for eternal* The AOT world is fucked up because of the Eren's mindless actions and foolishness of alliance for stopping eren.

eren is also being potrayed as a selfless tragic hero in the end. even in the guidebook, he was potrayed as a martyr who does genocide for the sake of his friends only. including how they chose to use eren's quote back in the train cart "i want you guys to live long" when they were talked about who will have founding and attack titan after eren. even isayama needs to replace the wording of "thank you for being the mass murderer blah blah" from "error" into something heavier like "fault" but still not chosing "sin" because it was controversial too in Japan. so it wasn't rly a shock if the wall breakers were forgiven and even their sin is forgotten (though reiner already paid so much, bertolt even with his life, compare them to annie who doesnt even have a redemption arc but also get to live with her father and bcm armin's waifu).

Pre-retcon Eren banged on about parents forcing roles on their children. But all Aaron Yogurt did was force roles on everyone: - He forced Armin to be 'the one who saves humanity' (despite killing 80% of it). - He forced Mikasa to kill him to free Ymir (and then cried like a bitch when he couldn't be with her). - He forced Historia to have a baby with her bully for no fucking reason (which is the ultimate sexist bullshit). - He forced his friends into a war they wanted nothing to do with. - He forced the Jägerists to become a fascist militia to protect the island (after HE pussied out on the Rumbling). - He possibly forced his Dad to give him the Attack and Founding Titans. - If you believe that he was controlling all past Attack Titans, then he forced Kruger to torture his own people for years instead of GETTING THE FOUNDER HIMSELF!! So much for Eren the 'freedom fighter'! He's like Amon from Legend of Korra. He led an 'anti-benders' group, but turned out to be a blood bender and made everything worse.

I feel like Izayama tried so hard to be dark and deep that he ended up opening a lot of complex narrative lines near the end of his manga and could not handle them. You cannot open time travel 4 chapters prior to the ending unless you have sized or planned it from the beginning. Otherwise, just looks like lazy writing, while at the same time, he neglected points that were actually important to the plot. Mikasa is the worst character after Ymir (Because Ymir won this title after making all of her descendants play to the tune of her Stockholm, letting them die gruesome deaths until she saw exactly what? "love?"). Izayama tried so bad to make her cool that seems flat and Mary Suish, if not for the Ackermagic she would have gotten killed over the first season, ok, we get it, she was the plot device that prevented Eren and Armin from getting killed back in the firsts seasons, but then? Izayama could not make her work in the slightest bit. The storyline in which she is this sort of Asian mob royalty brought NOTHING to the actual story, it's just "oh, look, she is also Azumabito! Look how complex is the protagonist love's interest". The only two possibilities for Mikasa towards Eren by the end are both abhorrent a) She didn't quite know Eren (as she said herself) and she was in love with a fantasy she had of him, she couldn't stand the fact that he was actually different from her idealization hence she killed him. Or b) She was manipulated because Eren knew after that he would kill him, so Mikasa never stopped being a slave to Eren's wishes because until the very end she did what he expected of her. Both are terrible things for a person to do. One makes her a delusional/childish persona, and the second makes her an utter idiot. The ending could be summarized as "the power of toxic love saved the day". And that is cheap. Another point about this trainwreck: the author seemed to be seduced by the popularity of EreMika because he didn't leave any precedent of Eren being in love with Mikasa, she referred to her AS HIS SISTER back when he was a kid, and all of a sudden he was always in love with her? Seriously? Finally, the ending with Eren all Martyr-like, making everybody hate him an and enemy to even his close ones seems like a terrible combination of "Code Geass" (which is a Masterpiece) and "Butterfly effect", since he could see past, present and future while actually intervening in all of them Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

i agree so much omg. i dont understand why most ending critics claim it all went downhill in 139. the entire story after the reach the sea was already trash as a whole but the signs that sth was off were there even before: 1. levi choosing armin over erwin for a stupid reason 2. time travel is introduced time travel ruins most stories and there was literally no reason for it to exist in this story. there was more than enough mystery that still needed to be explored: - the history of titans and the great titan wars - history of eldians. was marley - the nazi germany of aot - truly 100 percent truthful abt their retelling of history with eldians or did they twist the truth to some extent? why did eldians in the past slaughter non-eldian humans? no nuance there, the thing that isayama loves to give to the nazis of the story? - the ackerman clan and powers - rest of the world, its civilization etc - how will the truth now affect inner politics inside the walls? we could have gotten political conspiracy etc arcs here my point being there was more than enough material to focus on, why introduce a completely new and unneccessary addition to the story? i never liked the whole time travel and paths thing. the story's main theme being oppression and fighting for freedom despite it coming with ethical dilemmas was side-lined or downplayed bc well "it was all planned by the villain of the story eren anyway. so nothing mattered" just dogshit

By the narrative Eren is not even a villain because Isayama literally created a onedimensional world where everyone wants the Eldians wiped out from earth. Paradis got 100 years of pure titans and Eldians used as biologic weapons around the world. Come to think of it, Historia's passiveness is perhaps even more unforgivable than Armin and Hange. Why? Simply because she's the Queen i.e. leader of her country. And what does she do as leader? Gets pregnant and does nothing about the violence in Paradis or the foreign threats to Paradis. And when she does do anything, she just passively goes along with the plans others put in front of her. Such as the 50 year plan and of course, her friend Eren's global genocide that he puts Historia's people at risk to commit. She also does nothing to stop Floch and the Jägerists from murdering military and government figures to seize power. 4And after 80% of the world is destroyed, she presides over the Jägerists' militarism, which will make the remaining 20% hate them even more and eventually carpet bomb them. Histiria basically forgets what Ymir told her and reverts to Krista Lenz, playing whatever role she's expected to play. And that would be fine and dandy. Many characters' childish desires and ideals come back to bite them. Jean, Reiner and Mikasa come to mind. But unlike these characters, Historia doesn't get to overcome this because she's reduced to less than a background character. Historia, you've chosen to play the role of leading your country. So as their QUEEN, she chose to protect them by sacrificing herself. And when eren tells her about the genocide, she opposes him at first, but we never got the full conversation... May be eren showed /told her that it's the only way to save paradis... And he wouldn't have lied to historia (there's no need to even tell her about the plan unless he wanted to confide in her). May be he showed her that the test rumbling (50 Yr plan) wouldn't work as it only proves marleys point that paradisians are a threat and the world would hasten their attack and her bloodline would be doomed forever because of the cycle of war and not just for 50 yrs UNLESS the other side was destroyed. She was SELFISH and she would never chose to sacrifice HER CHILDREN for such a fate when a BETTER CHOICE was offered by eren He told her about the complete plan and she sided with him.... Why would she oppose yeagerists when she's secretly on their side? The military were planning to kill eren to pass the founding titan and the military heads have to be killed for the plan to work. Just like the military chose to sacrifice her and her bloodline for 50 Yr plan, she chose to sacrifice them for the rumbling to work and to SAVE PARADIS. Just like eren risked his friends lives. There's no better choice. She didn't revert to Krista... Krista would've snitched on eren when he told her the genocide plan, for the greater good...to save humanity and would've took her chances with 50yr plan by sacrificing herself and her descendants indefinitely to save the humanity from the complete/80% genocide..... Eren didn't even have the founders powers at that time... She would have easily stopped him... Krista was the selflessly kind persona who sacrifices herself for the greater good... But she didn't do so HISTORIA is selfish and chose to save herself and her children and sided with eren against all the humanity beyond the walls and the military heads while also ensuring the safety of HER PEOPLE as the QUEEN of PARADIS. rulers usually think about saving their own people... Not the ones coming to invade and destroy them... Her getting pregnant has nothing to do with escaping eating zeke (covered by the wine plan). It's probably out of love... But why she chose to get pregnant before marriage or why she lied about conception time is still a mystery.... Blame isayama for that. She presided over the yeagerists as she was always on their side....And now she is left with full power as the other military heads are no more. The 80% plan seems stupid as paradis got nuked after some centuries anyways.... But the last 2 chapters are a clear retcon of 100% rumbling (anr) and garbage But historias charecter was good and she acted as a QUEEN and never reverted to Krista. It would've made more sense if we were given her pov or even her complete conversations with eren... Which ISAYAMA FORGOT in all the pressurized retcon. And isayama made her Pregnant during the rumbling arc... What else do you expect her to do?

@@videobooks3 there are three endings 1) See you later ending 2) manga ending 3) anime ending. These endings are not just endings for the story, these are endings of three different timelines. Out of these 3 endings we've already seen 2: The ending of 'see you later' timeline where Eren asks Mikasa 'Who am I to you?' and Mikasa confesses her love and they run away from war and live their happy life and Eren dies while Mikasa saying 'See you later... Eren'. And then Eren wakes up in the manga timeline where in the dream he remembers Mikasa saying 'see you later... Eren' and also asks Mikasa, how your hairs got so long. In this timeline, Mikasa's response to Eren's "Who am I to you?" was 'Family' and Eren chooses to do rumbling and destroys 80% of the world but at the end gets killed by Mikasa. This is where it is revealed in Chapter 139 that the one who was chosen by Ymir was Mikasa which means Ymir gave Mikasa the power to continue this looping to be with Eren forever. Why Ymir gave her this power? Because she found someone same as her who was slave to her love. And then he wakes up in the anime timeline where he was seeing dream of what he has seen in the previous (manga timeline), ex.- His mom's death, deaths of some survey corp members in front of his eyes, etc. Then he wakes up from this dream and goes with Mikasa (Note: He doesn't see 'see you later' in his dream or doesn't asks Mikasa how her hairs got so long) and in this timeline Mikasa's response to Eren's 'Who am I to you?' will be revealed in the 5th or 6th episode of Season 4 Part 2 and because of this response, the ending will be completely different from the manga timeline's ending and there are some rumours too that Isayama's going to show all three endings in the anime. And Eren will also break this timeline loop. Always Tryhard also gave some proofs which almost prove his theory for example, Mikasa's scarf is black colored in manga and red in anime. We didn't notice this because the manga is already black n white but if you check official colored covers of some volumes, YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE MIKASA WEARING BLACK COLORED SCARF. In the latest trailer of Season 4 Part 2 also we see little Mikasa wearing Black colored scarf and posing her head towards right side which was in the manga. In anime, she poses towards left side, you can check it yourself! Always Tryhard's many theories have gotten true till now and he is 101% sure that Isayama was planning for this. I've explained his theory in so short. If you see his videos, you'll get more proof for this.

I actually thought the paths were a really cool concept, they just got ruined by the lack of explanation. I feel like there was so much lore there that could have been explored. Paths completely break the Ackerman's. It's literally stated their strength and combat experience comes from paths. For them to have not have that strength to later on aquire it from paths means Ymir had to have changed their bodies, when she apparently doesn't the ability to manipulate the Ackerman's because of "Titan science". The Ackerman's are either born with Titan strength which makes no sense, as then you'd have to explain how the science got to this point and why no scientist ever tried to recreate a similar effect, or Ymir rewires their body which is supposedly out of her power. I'm glad Levi didn't get ruined but look at what they did to Mikasa...

Anime ending is not gonna change most probably. Isayama lost a chance to make a grand level story. No hate to isayama he is a good person and author but the after seeing ending everyone was like: Why tf and What tf. It's bad. Even if AOT ended after s3 like levi killing zeke and pieck would have been a bit lame but better than this. Questions like how titans came? How do these people get the power of titan shifter? Would have been unanswered. But unanswered Questions are better than a crap ending ruining most of the characters. Like how can levi not revive erwin. He was shown as a rational character. He knew erwin was better in everything. Even erwin could redeem himself by saving countless of future comrades with help of colossal titan. Not like armin and saying: Eren cum back. Ass fuck me but cum back.

Glad to see others acknowledging that the entire final arc is a mess. Almost everyone begins acting totally out of character or just disappearing into the background due to the ballooning number of characters in the story, most of whom are forgettable. I don't know if the Paths were necessarily the worst idea, but they were not explained well. Even at the end, the nature of them makes no sense. Two words: WHERE'S MARCO????? And that is where my real complaints are. Isayama's horrific treatment of the original Paradis cast (That includes the meaningless deaths I was going off about earlier) and the fact that he pursued so many intersecting subplots with no plan on how to conclude them all, I knew he couldn't possibly resolve so many loose ends. This was set up for failure. I just hope that in time more of the wider fandom will write off season four (Chapters 91 to 139) as the saga that never should have been.

@@videobooks3 AOT is a genuine disappointment even though I long ago came to hate the series. Way before this ending ever came up. But I'm mostly angry at the characters I most enjoyed being shafted and killed off, towards no meaningful outcome and at the fact that the story got itself so big and so confusing with so many plots having no meaningful outcome. I am most angry about Sasha and other characters like her who got wasted. That's what I'm angriest about and I don't want the worthless ending of AOT to be the last we ever get of them. But wow the story just got bad after Marley was revealed. Even the worldbuilding kind of stopped after a while. Never saw much beyond Marley or Hizuru or whatever. And where do I start with Eren? I don't think there's any one reason for why he became such a joke at the end, I have nothing nice to say of him. But his treatment of Mikasa and all that crap about the AT showing him the future and having him manipulate everything from the start, so he was a slave the whole time then? Trying to work out exactly how he was ruined is really frustrating. But it's the treatment of Eren's gang and the rest of the SC that I am probably more angry about than Eren himself.

There were so many things wrong with where the story was going and I couldn’t bring it all together. This video was the one that showed me why I feel justified in not wanting the fourth season to be canon. Unfortunately, it is. I will just have to ignore it from now on when i rewatch the first three seasons. I think it would’ve been more interesting for the paradis island people to fight with the Eldians like Rainer and the others on the main land against the marleyans. And it shouldn’t just be 4 seasons it should be longer so you can actually care about these mainland Eldians. It’s just strange to have the main villain Ymir, a supernatural dead being, instead of living humans. It would’ve been nice for this story to really reflect what’s going on in our world. Right now we have genocide, war and starvation, not because of some supernatural curse but because of human nature. It’s too bad that this story started so good and ended up badly
