I'm personally a Ferrari lover, but for some, it's Maserati: That one girl in the crowd that draws you in. She's not the most beautiful, most talented, most athletic, most dependable, or most fun, nor does she offer the best long term value. But as a package, there's something about her that gets your engine revving like no other girl in the room.

Maseratis were once the cars of Kings and Shahs, not poor men. Also, they were winning races for decades before Ferrari or Lamborghinis were even a thing. The only 2 time winner of the Indy500 by an Italian manufacturer. I wish people would stop making stupid comments about this historic and proud marque. The Maserati 250F was adored by racers like Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham and Carroll Shelby!
@simondavies46035 ай бұрын
Bravo! Someone who knows their cars. Maserati was established in 1914 and has a racing heritage to be proud of. Ferrari and Lamborghini are upstarts in comparison, and whilst one definitely has a racing pedigree to be greatly admired, the other has never really raced anything. BTW the Ferrari derived engines, which the Nettuno is not but which have graced many Maserati models in recent years, refers to the engine block manufacture. Ferrari, unusually amongst specialist automotive manufacturers, have their own engine block forge, where they drop the molten metal into sand filled forms to forge the blocks which are the basis of their internal combustion engines. This is one reason why Ferrari is such a great brand, and to use a Ferrari forged block, but thereafter design your own engine around it, as Maserati did, is what makes them distinctive too. Also, as pointed out in this excellent review, Maserati are the best at exhaust music.

For all the grief Stellantis gets, they're doing everything right. All their cars are winning awards. From the Maserati mc20 Xtrema, nearly all alfa romeos, jeep avenger. It's ridiculous they're now the best selling car brand in South America. And they've made Italian cars reliable. I'm actuallly looking forward to seeing the next offerings from Alfa Romeo and Maserati. If they get it right, make light cars that are reliable with that Italian charm, they can compete with the Germans. German cars are heavy and bland. Fast but without much connection to the driver.

My LC500 needs the transmission to “warm up” with about 10 minutes of driving or so for it to shift properly. I think it’s common among performance cars now. They change shift timing until operating temperatures are reached to protect them is what I imagine.
@spectre30068Күн бұрын
How are you liking the LC500? I can't afford one, but I'm fascinated with it. What are the pros and cons of it, in your opinion?
@wb9504Сағат бұрын
@ biggest pros is the trust factor, the looks, the comfort the sound!! I daily it and I already put just over 60k miles on mine. It’s a great grand touring car. The transmission is a double edged sword. It’s great on gas when cruising at high way speeds, regularly get 30-35mpg in that setting, mid-high teens around town. Not bad for a V8. It shifts quick in automatic. As far as trust factor I’ve taken it road tripping all over the country with no issues. Biggest negatives: -storage, The Trunk is a useful shape for luggage but there’s no covering up it’s a tiny trunk for such a large car. -Back seat could use a bit more leg room like any 2 door coupe. And the transmission as good as it is is no manual or DCT both of those transmission types far beat any automatic gear box no matter how good. LC500 feels so old school it should be a manual transmission. -the other big one, parts prices when things break, not that they break often. The cars so unique and low volume you can’t expect regular Toyota/lexus part prices. The fancy hideaway Door handles cost like $2k a piece if they fail, which 1 of mine has, it’s. Known failure point on the forums. Same for the adjustable dampers, both my fronts have needed replacement already from crappy roads in my region. It’s a very daily friendly “exotic” so to speak. So I do love it.

2:00 actually it isn’t made in house by Maserati but by Alfa Romeo who provides all the engines, from the 4 cylinder to the V6. You can tell that they are the same engine by looking at the engine cover (which is literally the same, a part form the mc20) or listening to the distinct tone of the V6. Although, Maserati made some small changes in the V6 like pre-combustion chambers. Now Alfa Romeo also provides the chassis for the Grecale which is the same platform of the Stelvio, so the Grecale is basically a Stelvio In fancier “clothes”

Are you aware that there are only three corporations on this planet that manufacture all different vehicles? Maserati was founded in 1914 , by the way , 25 years before Ferrari and almost 50 years before Lamborghini. They have pushed out , over the decades , fantastic models that are a huge part of automobile history , not to mention the 1939 victory at the Indy 500. Most people are just after fads and have more money than brains or driving ability.

As an owner of a GranTurismo S with the F1 Cambiocorsa option I can tell you from first hand experience that there is just something special and unique about Maseratis. Can they be finicky? Yes, but isn't that part of their overall charm? And as you correctly pointed out, the GranTurismo is one of the most beautiful looking and sounding cars you can buy at any price. Yes, the tech is lacking, but if you're a driving enthusiast you don't care if the car has a huge distracting tablet sized display. You're paying attention to the pedals, steering and exhaust note, and by that measure, Maseratis are fantastic and a tremendous value.

Great film Miles first off, secondly I think you nailed it with Maserati and their pricing structure. I've driven a Grand Turismo and it's impressive, especially the new interiors(compared to a few gens ago). But when you look at the GT you think this car should be the price of a base 911 Carrera or base C8 and it's not. In fact it doesn't perform as well as my G82 M4C, though the steering is better and the looks. They could really help their cause by restructuring their pricing for at least a generation to get new buyers on board. As of right now no one is going to pick up a new GT when they can get a 911 Turbo S or Z06 or a 570S. I don't understand how they survive as a manufacturer with these prices when the competition is so tough at those numbers, really for all 3 models. Maybe they need a risk taker to take the helm and steer the company in a new direction. They are beautiful cars that is for sure.

Miles, you did a great fascinating review of maserati and where they are in the market place in the modern day. Fantastic voice for presentation spoken very eloquently and a true knowledgeable professional who stands out. Well done 👍.

For a relitively smaller channel the quality is great! You almost never see videos filmed in 8k.

If they prove in the next 5 years that the cars are more reliable and easier to maintain, the MC20 and Granturismo will be AMAZING bargains. As new, they can't be justified unless you want them now and have FU money in the bank.

Very high production and well written video, Miles 👏🏼 Also the depreciation is actually absurd, how did this thing loose 100k+ in a year

Great review!!! As an owner, i had great expectations for the brand and I sum up that the downfall is caused by too LATE, too CHEAP and too LAZY! 1) materials used directly reflect on reliability issues 2) the release of Trofeo is definitely too late and who would want a tuned down Ferrari V8 in an over weight old chassis. The performance is not even comparable to Germany BBA counterparts. Then the light weight Trofeo version is limited release with price tag almost of a supercar. If Maserati can stop selling LEGACY, TRADITIONS and NOSTALGIA, but focus on the performance, credit to price ratio and reliability issues; maybe there might be some success in the future!

It's a shame, because the mc20 is genuinely one of the most beautiful cars to come out in recent years, with design that rivals Pagani (in my opinion)
@club17912 ай бұрын
Better then Pagani, because Pagani copies always his cars. The MC 20 is a totaly new design.

I love what Maserati is doing with the new MC20 and GranTurismo but what are they SMOKING when the GranTurismo is 200k that’s INSANE

This car will be the new LFA, underappreciated now and appreciated later. I'm not comparing sounds or performance, just the lore behind the cars. Now if we're talking about all time...LFA is in a category of it's own.

1st time watching this channel. Good job. Such a beautiful line of cars. By the time I can afford a depreciated Gran Turismo, I still can’t afford the maintenance.

Absolutely excellent video! Well done in every aspect. Like many, I'm intrigued by Maserati but the price point as a new purchase is usually much too high. And frankly the fact that it depreciates so much, so quickly, gives me pause as well. But that MC20... It's just a different animal!!

We own a Maserati Levante Modena (V6) and I would agree with you. The interior of the car lacks some personality and could really use some spice in it. The cars driving and handling though is amazing and that 3.0 liter V6 sounds amazing.

I think the top tip that folks miss is if you go back to the Ed China version of Wheeler Dealers Mike finds a guy who engineered a repair for the chronic throttle body issue that cost about $450 us This prevented the $2300 repair that repeats itself from the dealer. I suppose a guy who had the time and $450 would send a throttle body over have him repair it, then take it apart and see what he’s done and then 3D print the parts out of metal instead of plastic and make a killing buying and repairing all the downed cars out there.

I'm a big fan of cars that avoid having to go to the dealership all the time. People can and should choose whatever car that appeals to them and for whatever reason that is important to them. We all know, or should know, that "certain" cars are going to spend a lot of time and the owner's money being fixed. The thing many people don't really consider is the actual time they spend ENJOYING the reason they purchased their car versus the time spent fixing that car. Those of us who live in the real world and who drive in traffic, on crowded roads full of stupid people who spend most of their time looking at their cell phone or their touch screen instead of paying attention, realize the enjoyment factor is pretty short. Isn't it great we all get to choose what makes us happy? So, when you get that repair bill for the $6000 brake job or the $950 water pump, just realize it's all part of the deal.
