Comparing a vertical cut with a horizontal showed me they wanted to be bias or it is a joke

It’s so obvious that neither of these guys know how to use an axe properly but they do demonstrate that a $200 axe is ridiculous.

$200 is a bit rich for my blood. I've bought a number of axes at yard sales for pretty cheap. $5 or so.

What's to know, sharp end goes in tree, when tree cracks....run
@jasongixxer64386 ай бұрын
That and the tests werent identical. Example- Test #1 limbing: One axe got to swing downward at the limb, and the other had to attack it on a vertical. Not good.

@@1pcfred I bought a Swedish axe 50 years ago for $7 brand new. I’m still using it. It was Fiskars made in Sweden and takes a beautiful edge. I would have a branch like that off in 4 swings.

@@The-Fat-Kid $7 50 years ago would be $50 today. The obliquity of axes has been diminishing over time recently too. So we're losing the economy of scale that axes used to enjoy. There's just not as many mid priced axes around anymore. Today we have things available like hand held battery powered chainsaws. Which weren't around 50 years ago. That you can get for around $50. Consumers have been migrating towards that sort of thing. Which has displaced the ax. The market is changing.

As a Swede myself I don't think 200 dollars for a Swedish axe is that much for one that will last you a lifetime.

Harbor freight has an $11.00 hickory handle axe.

Either of those hatchets in someone elses hands who actually wanted to cut through those branches wouldve done it in 5 hits

I'd be pretty upset if I lost a $200 ax.

I was! I was a birthday gift TBH I wouldn't buy a $200 axe, but that didn't make it hurt any less.
@1pcfred6 ай бұрын
@@survivalidiots the fact that it was given once doesn't lessen its value. There is the replacement cost to consider. You can't count on receiving another one.

I feel like a lot is about the tool and the position of what you hacking, hatchet is gud for hooman, axe is good for getting rid of dumb trees

HAHA I love it. Maybe we will get a dummy hatchet and axe and put that to the test! Thanks for the comment!

Hitting wood straight down just compresses the wood fibres, also that hatchet is not sharp!
@survivalidiots2 ай бұрын
Yeah, it wasn't "sharp" basically we took a file to it at the same angle as was already cut on the hatchet. I didn't want to change the angle of attack on the blade but it was worse before I touched it up before the video.
