@@GreyPunkWolf I understand your point but you couldn't get me to pretend to be Catholic for $10 million dollars. If I had to choose between jail and being Catholic, I would choose jail. If I had to choose between Catholic and death, I would choose death. I'm not exaggerating or overstating, I know for many my position would seem incomprehensible and illogical. But I am Christian, I am very religious, and even just the pretense of being converted to Catholic would put me in danger of eternal condemnation. I can see how the heathen would pretend to be converted. But that's because they don't understand that they are giving up eternity of true happiness for a season of pleasure. The Bible expounds on the truth of this world, and many ignore it. The Papacy knows the truth but they disseminate falsehoods to their congregation in order to usurp worship from God. Even a pretense of conversion is acceptable to them, as long as you do the sacraments you are counted as a believer. Edit: I know Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity. I've mentioned it in my other comments. But it is the false church spoken of in Revelation 17:5 and The Bible identifies the office of the Pope as the anti-christ, with precise accuracy that it is unmistakable. This used to be common knowledge among protestant Christians. His Title literally says "Vicar of Christ" which means "in place of Christ" the word "anti"in greek can be translated to "in place of"

@@slayzet4293 the people who live there are effectively a museum piece. They don't pay a whole lot - its effectively an art exhibit with living rules. Frankly, for example I have a severe distaste for Catholicism and their weird fascination with diddling kids and frankly the idea of shouting at a sky daddy is absolutely absurd to me. These would effectively be some of the worst living conditions to be under if you're just in it for cheap rent. The housing discriminates entirely against anyone not catholic which in and of itself not catholic, which is weird. All in all - choosing to live here is to subject yourself to a set of rules like 99% of people including catholics would hate unless you were incredibly die hard about the faith. I'd say being a museum piece for cheap rent is a good thing considering how much people pay to maintain the houses through tours. it really do be a weird balance - but I don't think its a scam.

@@k4nd1incyb3rsp4c3 it's because much of the western world started treating housing as a commodity rather than a utility. That's a massive oversimplification, ignoring many individual nuances, but overall, that's the crux of it. Like, a homeowner wanting the market to be hot before selling their home. Like, if the market is hot, selling your home just means any extra profit simply goes towards your next one. But the fact that we view houses like stocks is a major part of it.

@@KC-Mitch stocks are volatile and ppl change their minds about what they do and don’t want… except housing. It’s universal. Most people don’t just suddenly say “you know what? I’d like to live in a tent in the woods” and sell their home causing a decrease in demand. Coupled with people living longer lives, it creates an issue where the elderly with no income are straight up reliant on liquidating/leveraging the only asset that is guaranteed to be in demand. Old people don’t wanna live in squalor. Unless the young are willing to make a cultural adjustment to take on the elderly DIRECTLY as dependents (not likely as we have a comfort culture) we’ll always see this phenomenon. Interesting corollary to the birth rate crisis. The question of dependency and comfort/duty to oneself vs others is quite pertinent in this day and age.

@@YeshuaKingMessiah The part of Augsburg shown in the video is called Fuggerei. What wasn't mentioned is that this project is for the poor, disabled and elderly only. No alcohol, no family visitors to stay over night, only residents. And no way to live as a normal family there. Only people who really, really need that living space and have no other choice except living on the street. It's like europes most social care home financed by europes richest guy in history in advance 400 years ago and able to go 400 more... Although I believe the church and the city of Augsburg does alot nowadays, too. Fugger gave this estate to the city with the rule that they never raise the rent so it will still house people who need it most. This is right in the center of one of germanys more expensive cities, but they still haven't raised the rent.

For everyone wondering why Jakob Fugger was so rich. His father went hard into the weaving industry. He was a weaver by trade, but also very smart. He married multiple times for money and to get high connections in the weaver guild. There he used his influence and money to store lagre amounts of fabric and sell it off favorably. Because he das such large amounts of fabrics he could ship them relatively cheap in large amounts and store them locally, waiting for the right time to sell it. In short he monopolized the market and manipulate the heck out of it. His children used the same methods to get even richer.

the gates don’t really close at 10 fugger wanted the ‚city‘ to be like a castle, not an island, meaning you can get out and in even after ten if you live there. but there is s night guard, whom you have to pay 1 euro till midnight and two euros after. and unlike some comments say, its not really like a retirement home. they also have students who live there, etc. there is just a long waiting list and whoever needs it most gets the apartment. the three daily prayers go to the fugger family, they are not controlled, but can be held in the church that us bild in the small ‚city‘. unlike other churches, this one is build to follow the street, not the sun, because they needed a new church since the one they previously used wasn’t catholic anymore. also the rent is 88 ct per year, but water and heat has to be payed by the people themselves. the fuggerei has a strong community and the government ones who are able do yardwork or shopping for the ones who aren’t able there wasn’t any light source at night when the city was build, so the doorbells are all different, so you could feel wich door was wich rather than having to find it blind. the ‚city‘ is opened for visit and if anyone who reads this ever comes to augsburg id strongly suggest visiting it. just don’t be too loud, its a home, not a tourist attraction.

Typical Ukrainian flag take. Where do you think he got his riches? 50 houses was less than a speck of dust to Fugger. Good video, but a few details are wrong. Jakob Fugger never asked for 1 guilder/mark/euro/dollar etc. He built it for the poor and homeless and for free, the €1 is symbolic and does not go back to him directly. And the prayers are said in his name so that he receives the blessings and rewards in the afterlife and is saved from purgatory, which is probably the main reason why he had these apartments built.

@@plutofloats It's more of a myth. Jews were not much more employed in trade than Christians. They just preferred to let Jews go first, especially in credit transactions, because trade and wealth were generally viewed in Christianity as bad and even mortal sin.
@FlyingAnanas-337
@FlyingAnanas-337 4 ай бұрын
@@plutofloats that's completely wrong. It was mostly Jewish communities that collectively raised money for borrowing, not single jews. If the borrower (noble man) couldn't pay back, he just wouldn't and the whole community became poor overnight. Btw Christians couldn't give loans to other Christians and jews couldn't give loans to other jews. They only could give money to ppl of other religions, that's the difference. That myth is just completely false.

The rent wasn't increased because Fugger created a foundation for these houses, and ruled that the rent had to stay that price. The papers say nothing absolut increasing rent with inflation, so his descendants can't do that either, they earn the necessary fonds through the museum. There is also a very, very long waiting list, you get in there if you're the one who needs it most and are supposed to go when you get back on your feet (by finding a job again etc.).
