Could not agree more about the PureGym. It's grimey smelling, dirty, and has some of the worst members in the country but it's affordable and has reasonable equipment. Hardly ideal but it'll do.
@BlacksmithBets3 жыл бұрын
Honestly the best gyms usually are the smelliest because those are the ones that have people who go there to train hard. Just like how you rarely get a nice smelling boxing gym, if you can't handle the smell of sweat then maybe fitness just isn't for you. One thing that I agree with though and drives me nuts is their being so many members who don't bother re-rackibg the weights, literally are dumbells and plates all over the floor because they don't enforce gym rules properly.

Also, for sports gear on a budget online shopping is good and definitely TK Maxx (or other discounters - most people shop for luxury brands there and sports stuff, even of known brands can be pennies on a dollar there) and even charity shops, if you don't mind giving it a good wash.

Another bonus with frozen veg is more nutrients. Flash freezing is one of the best ways to retain nutrients in food, compared to fresh produce, which loses about half of its nutrients within a week of being picked if ripe.

Eggs are one that must get thrown away in tons. Supermarkets won't keep them after the date as expired, but I've never had an egg go off, even up to a month or maybe more, over the expiry date. And as you say, dates are irrelevant on fruit and veg, because unless they have mould etc they're fine.
@DavidGoliath13 жыл бұрын
I agree these eggs are radiated every bit of germ and bacteria DNA gets burned to death so there’s almost no risk. Dates also have no micronutrients whatsoever, but it is what makes them so good. Certain fruits can’t be bought frozen like kiwis. The best micronutrient friendly good tasting fruit other than berries and Mango, is grenade apple it just gets dry and won’t mold but it’s fucking irritating to peel...

If you're starting off, a 100kg barbell and dumbbell kit from Argos will cost you 6months worth of the more expensive gym membership that came up in the comparison. Home gyms are really not that expensive for newbies. It's when you get beyond that it becomes an issue. That said, I inherited a damaged old bench that's as old as me, some bars, a bunch of weights (collectively probably under £150 to buy second hand), and with under £100 extra online purchases (extra plates, a pullup bar, etc...) I have everything I could need as an amateur except a leg press machine and maybe a replacement leg curl attachment because it was missing on my bench... And space, I mean for a few years I had my bed on its side to make more room for the bench with clearance. Scour fb marketplace, ebay, Amazon, whatever other sites/apps/forums you can find. There's often a bargain if you just dig a bit, less so during lockdown because everyone was looking but hopefully it's all calmed down again now.
@mattymaclean6213 жыл бұрын
I bought one of these before lockdown 2 and I was dead dead happy to have it while gyms were shut. Now gyms are open though I haven't touched it since.

New subscriber, I like your honesty and humility. I’m 42, reasonable shape, work out a lot, always struggled with diet, beer and crisps etc on my days off. What do you see as the main negative effects of this?
@bryankeane34773 жыл бұрын
He has not done any cycles to my knowledge. Fair play for staying in shape at 42. At that age your test has probably declined to a level that could warrant you going on TRT. Could be something to look into instead of doing a cycle
