I picked up that exact frame last month! Finishing my bike build up today, had to wait for some components to come in. A word of caution, if you apply any frame protector tape, be very careful if you reposition or remove it. The top layer of black matte finish will peel off!!! I had a section on my seat stay where I repositioned the tape and it peeled up. The worst part is Specialized will not warranty this paint defect. So be very careful in that regard.

And they demand one of the highest premiums in the market... Well I'll be damned. Bad paint + crappy service, that's a no no especially since you're paying premium.

@@Perception_ Don’t forget they also just started offering direct to consumer sales, which screws over the local bike shops. Not sure why you’d buy direct, since the dealer puts the bike together for you, usually offers a period of free tune ups, and they also can negotiate on price. I love the brand, but question some of these recent issues.

@@scottaw I like to have both especially because I want to fix my own stuff in life and push the prices down to more reasonable prices. I'm actually looking to purchase a Propain Hugene which is a bike + brand that is only available as direct to consumer. The sad thing I see time and time again with any local shop of consumer goods and services is so many still believe running a shop is simply to put some merchandise on some shelves and hangers, and then all you do is open the door and blam, done. So many local business fail hard especially in this day and age because they just blame the consumer and internet. Well, if you are unwilling to change and be responsible for your own actions, then you are the problem. The consumer is not running that business, and if you do not take customer service seriously you will fail. You can say what ever you feel like, but none of that will help. You're not going to laugh when the bank is shutting you down... I live at a place with a lot of lazy people, and bicycles is simply not something most people will even look twice at. There is a Specialized dealer here, and most people here also are people who would never ever consider paying as much as that brand is demanding for their products, and still that bike shop as well are somehow believing they are gods gift to man. I've tried time and time again to put some change into that shop, but they have just become more and more vain and are just becoming more and more rude because i'm not throwing thousands of $ on the table everytime I am there. Well, I am a year round bicyclist and I like to fix my own stuff. I would never put all my money on that table, because I have a budget to think of just as they do in their own private lives. I've stopped using them all together now, because I couldn't care less about people who only care about money. I have no clue how they even manage to run that business through the pandemic as well because I've never seen more than two other customers inside that shop when I've been there, and I've lived at this place for 9 years now. Anyhow, I know this is only one shop in this world, but I see this trend with a lot of other shops as well. Blaming their failures on the customer. You just cannot do that, because of all the successful business in this world they have gotten to where they are today because they take customer service very seriously because it's important.

Did you use a heat gun when removing the frame protector? That might help when removing the frame protector as it loosens the bond between the frame protector and frame.

I bought a complete comp bike and it was pretty great out of the box. I did however find I was going through the rear travel pretty quickly so replaced the volume spacer in the rear shock to the max size and the suspension has become more supportive and I go through it more progressively. This was an easy job also. I also extend the travel on the fork to 150mm. These changes have made the bike feel even better. A great bike.

11M is not Specialized highest level of carbon, that would be FACT 12M which is what the S-Works lineup is constructed from. For some reason 12M doesn't exist with the Specialzed trail - downhill series. 12M is slightly lighter. Love your videos.

Built mine up a few months ago. Really love this frame but already have some nicks in the matte coating, which is a bummer. Matte wraps I've seen somehow increase gloss and make it appear more orange, unfortunately.

Great review! Thanks! Such a beauty looking frame! Would be excited to see it built up. Just noticed that the S-Works frame is a size S3 whereas the frame reviewed was S4 which would possibly count for the difference in weight Might not be as much of a difference in the end… Cheers!

Great Video. FSR suspension is way too soft across the board for me riding style. Definitely way to linear. Hopefully the deletion of the pivot it will be more progressive. I weighs 160 pounds I have run 280 on the rear shock. If I don’t got 280 psi I blow through it’s travel on easy trails. Specialized make great products but my bike is getting sold..

Actually the cheapest you can get this frame is a Chinese replica of the frame. It is identical in every way but it doesn't have the frame storage...But the geometry is the same. And you can get that for 900$ plus shipping. You even get a 3 year warranty on it (depends on the seller, some give 2 years, some 3), that's how certain they are that they made a quality carbon enduro frame. If you wan't new stumpy feel and don't need the storage space in the frame, why not! You will have that "specialized" riding experience for 1/4 of a price (depends on the parts you choose)

So you do get a "comp" frame alone? I tried to buy a KSL frame but there they only offer the S-Works version as a frame only so I bought a complete bike and sold all the parts I didn't need. Have you actually ridden the bike to say all those good things about it? It sounds like an add made by Specialized.
@Jamesthebikeguy
@Jamesthebikeguy 2 жыл бұрын
It's not technically a "comp" frame its just a Stumpjumper Carbon frame. Specialized is using the same front & rear triangle on ALL Stumpjumper carbon bikes. The difference is that the S-Works comes with an alternative Yoke. Regarding how it rides, I owned a 2021 S-Works Stumpjumper with plenty of videos of it on the channel, so yes I am familiar with how it rides.

i got the 2019 stumpie expert which came with the fact 11m frame just like the sworks, also the roval traverse carbon wheels. ive spent tons of money upgrading it to near perfection... unfortunatley the suspension kenimatics (in the 2019 at least) are aweful, you blow through tons of travel when you dont need to. i call it the bimbo cause its such a beautiful bike but has really dumb workings.
