Some examples of diaper cover brands:
Low cost diaper cover brands: Pororo, Alva, Happy Flute, Assunta, Famicheer, Prowrap, Coolababy (most of these are found on eBay, in co-ops, FB swaps, etc)
Mid level diaper cover brands: Econobums, Diaper Rite, Imagine, Kawaii, Nicki's, Thirsties, Buttons, Sweet Pea
More expensive diaper cover brands: Blueberry, Bummis, Rumparooz, Flips, Tots Bots, Grovia, Best Bottoms, Applecheeks, Smart Bottoms

if you have a five gallon bucket and a clean toilet plunger and a bit of detergent and vinegar.... soaking them in really hot water for half and hour helps.

I have a friend who does something similar because she doesn't have access to a washing machine right now due to a fire. I love that cloth diapering can be accessible to people even if they don't have one :)

I find flats so fascinating...it's like diaper origami! I haven't been brave enough to try them yet (I like the simplicity of my prefolds), but I think it's so cool how they are so affordable and customizable. :)

This can work if you have a light wetter, if not this type of absorbency won't hold for more than an hour

My kiddos were/are definitely anything but light wetters and it works great for the standard 2ish hours for us. Even worked overnight if I doubled up 🤷‍♀️

Wouldn't the shammy towel from Dollar tree work for flats or just an absorbent period cause it's suppose to hold triple it's weight.. Shammy towel is for drying your car or cleaning spills

Because they are so absorbent, I would imagine they might have the same drying/irritation effect as putting microfiber against the skin

Brand new to the clothes diaper idea. I have a grand baby on the way in about 5 months, and will be helping my daughter through this process. We are mainly interested in the money saving prospect of cloth diapers, but are overwhelmed on where to start. Can we do this from day 1? As in a newborn, or is it better to wait til the baby weighs a little more? Lots of questions, please help!

Yes you can definitely do it from day 1 you’d just need to fold the flats down enough to fit a newborn and use newborn covers (as even one size diapers that claim to fit at 8 lbs are usually still too big even on larger newborns) I’ve been using flats and covers and prefolds and covers on my brand new newborn and he was 6 lbs. There are a lot of brands that make newborn sized covers for around $10 or so give or take a couple of bucks and you can usually get away with one cover for every 2 flats or prefolds because you can wipe out and reuse the cover if it doesn’t get any poop on it

sorry, I'm not sure. I got them years ago from a co-op group on FB and they didn't specify any brand, just called them bamboo trifolds. Those Diaper Safari ones look really similar though!

I can tell you that the prefolds I get are Diaper Rite bamboo prefolds. Diaper Rite is Diaper Junction's store brand. They're so soft!

How many of them do you go through a day for a growing 8 month old almost 9 month old boy?

About 6 or 7 diaper changes during the day and at night I would use two flats and a doubler to last all night. You can reuse a cover if it doesn’t have an absorbent fabric inside by wiping it out and using it for the next change when it’s dry. If it gets poop on it then it goes in the diaper pail

If you have a very heavy wetter or for overnight two might be a good option, but we generally didn’t need to use more than one
