Waited almost 2 years for this video. I installed the 6x9 Excelon components that include the same 3.5" in my 2018 base audio RT. Realized they were biampable as soon as I saw them. Working on fiberglass A-pillars now for the tweets. Built a fiberglass box for the shallow mount excelon 12 which looks stock. All powered with an XR900-5. My dsp crapped out so now looking for one with optical in to get signal from the PAC module. You guys helped me build my system. Greatest channel on KZbin!!!

Bet they sound nice. What amp you got powering em?
@ChristopherStJohn-bt3ww3 жыл бұрын
@@webberfan1234 running stock amp. I have the Boston acoustic factory system. I can only imagine with a better amp how much better it would sound, but its good for now. I also have the excellon 6.5in in the rear deck, but tweeters hit rear deck panel so you have to cut an opening, and then I attached the grilles to the deck panel to cover. It looks good, but, I think it would sound just as good with front stage only.

I put a set in my sound bar, then a set in my dash about two months later. When I added them to my sound bar I loved them. It really brought out the higher sound I was missing. When I added them to the dash the sound was way to shrill. It was just too mush high end, and I had to eq them out, but the sound was never great. To add more trouble the speaker on the left side of the dash would pop at higher volume. No distortion or super high volume, just high enough to listen to your favorite jam, I would get speaker pop. I'm taking them out and putting the factory speakers back in. I've considered cutting the tweeters and keeping it as a better mid-range speaker.

Just love the attention to details: clips when removing the A Pillar related to air bags, adding foam to the bottom of the Kenwood speaker.Alot of shops wouldn't even be aware of these things.Thats why you pay the extra at reputable shops like this.....I call it peace of mind tax.

Its always good to swap out all factory speakers because of the paper cones and small magnets.Add a multi channel amp and that should carry you until the bass bug hits.At that time you get a nice 10"/12" box with a mono amp.

I used these in my 06 Grand Cherokee. It had the same OEM speaker as this Challenger. When I get enough amp channels I plan to Bi-amp them.
@webberfan12343 жыл бұрын
How are they sounding now as is? Which amp are you using? Curious
@davidbulgrin27093 жыл бұрын
@@webberfan1234 they don’t need a lot of power, head unit it is plenty. I have them amplified now. First at 50watts and tuned with DSP. Now at 75watts but haven’t had time to retune after amp change, just high pass crossover applied. Really not much change in sound with more power, DSP really made the difference. Has a nasty spike around 10k hz. But could be do to mounting and pointing at the windshield. Much like this challenger. Huge upgrade over factory speakers. Night and day. I swapped out one to listen to the difference. But can’t compare them to any other potential drop in replacements.

Just a suggestion when u use those round push connectors it's better to have a Male on the negative in the car and a female on the positive in the car and opposite on the speaker!! That way if anyone was to replace it other than the heat shrink red black that person will kno which is which no mistakes there!!

One question, the oem speaker it’s 8 ohm and the kenwood it’s 4 ohm , whit that low impedance it’s should be worried? About damage the stereo or the oem amp?

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 with the factory amplified Alpine system.. I want to install an Amp pro ap4 -ch41. I understand how to set the dip switches, but I’m confused about the speaker wires. I’m assuming that I need to cut into the factory speaker wires bypassing the factory amplifier. The I just run outputs off of my amplifier. Am I correct? I’m just asking because the directions say that the factory amplifier needs to be goo up still. Richard

I have a 2007 grand Cherokee with the Boston premium audio, meaning I have 6 speakers powered by a factory amp, problem is you can’t easily use after market head units with said amp limiting me down to 4 channels, I need advice asap!! And I can’t find a good answer on what I should do, I’m bypassing the amp with a metra kit, but how do I keep all 6 channels? 2 6.5’s in rear 6x9s in door and 3.5s in dash

I have a 2019 Rav4 with the same size dash speakers. Instead of swapping in aftermarket 3.5" coax speakers in the dash, I installed Skar tweeters near the sail panels. I do like the soft treble sound from the Skar tweeters more than the OEM dash, but wondering if aftermarket dash speakers would have been a better option?
@nicholascasatelli69493 жыл бұрын
I did the same as you, but I have a camry.... it was so terribly bright sounding......all bass and highs......mids were like just short of non existent.....so yes It helps a lot putting in a two way 3.5 there.....I custom cut out n mounted a 2 way 4 inch there actually in place of my component 3/4" tweets I had......now.... heh heh..... I want coax 6 x 9s in door instead of the comp set one in it now lol.....also keep in mind that two 4 ohm speakers makes it 2 ohm. Factory wiring is usually jumped, but it's still paralell, so remember

cut the entire harness for the radio, install a aftermarket radio, run rca's to rear install amplifiers(ground amps to rear seat where battery is 3 feet away ), make sure to cut all the wires to the speakers, trade the car in because you screwed up the entire car. and has no audio what so ever. tech spends 2 day repairing wires,installing radio and amps properly.............
