Sort of. Phillip's full name is Phillip Hardman, and he was originally going to be THE Hardman of Pearson Hardman, but they decided to make Hardman a villain for the next season instead. This scene was left out of the original pilot but added back for overseas broadcasts for some reason. It wasn't a plothole when it was filmed, but they turned it into a plothole in season 2.
