This is a great video. But when I hear someone say that permanent hair color is not permanent, I cringe. I decided to stop coloring my hair (which was a black permanent box dye). Two years later I still had black hair. I finally had my hairdresser to slowly cut my ends until the black was all gone. It permanently altered my hair and then dyed it a permanent black. 😊

I have done chemistry and biology in highschool as my main profile and never knew why i am so in love with all this science. Now i am a new hairdresser trying to understand everything that is related to color and here i am again studying chemistry. I am so happy i found you and that you explain everything without making it complicated and for that i thank you with all my heart.🤗❤

Does lightener break up those color pigments inside the shaft and get rid of them or does it just rearrange things so that the new color can take over?
@ChrischLBaby2 жыл бұрын
One thing still confuses me tho and maybe someone can explain it to me:) You say if you have high porosity hair (that means open cuticle I suppose?) then when you apply non oxidative color it can actually stain your hair longer or be harder to wash out, respectively. But then you go on to say that sometimes permanent color doesn't last as long as demi permanent because it causes damage to the cuticle and thus will wash out sooner. So I guess I'm just confused if either high porosity hair tends to take color better or if in some cases it doesn't at all because it is so porous everything just leaks out?

Thank you so much. I don't do much with the Esthetics exam, simply because it is not my specialty. However, on my website, www.cosmetologyexamreview.com, I do have a skincare module available, which covers the fundamentals of skin.

Hi do we have blue color in eumelanin What natural color pigments do we have in our hair...
@TheIntentionalClassroom3 жыл бұрын
From the research I have found, I have not seen anything stating that eumelanin has blue coloring to it. While pheomelanin does carry a yellow tint to it, eumelanin is simply black pigment molecules. The more eumelanin is present the darker the hair appears. Hope that helps.

Hallo from Greece!!! Your videos are super and very helpfull . I would want to learn some things about the color and the static electricity on hairs, and what is the electric charge in the cortex , how the electrons reacts to the hair shaft . If you have a knowlage about that it could be very helpfull!! thank you
@TheIntentionalClassroom3 жыл бұрын
While I wish I could answer this off the top of my head, I'll have to do a little research here. I'll definitely look into it because if you have these questions, I'm sure others do as well!
@honoloulou103 жыл бұрын
@@TheIntentionalClassroom it’s very interesting topic as I read somewhere that the electric charge is different in damaged and healthy hair and somehow has to do with the dyes and how long exists on hair. But I can’t find something specific . I would be glad and thankful! Thank you a lot!!!

Focus on things like structure of the hair, the checmicals involved in haircolor and skin/scalp disorders. Flashcards are your best friend! I would use the Quizlet app on your phone. If you can master enough of the terminology in the science chapters, it should help you through the exam.

@kaylamadewell1203 жыл бұрын
Its extremely different. It contains a really high ammonia content and usually only comes with a standard 20 or 30 volume. That is okay for new growth but the ends of the hair, if already chemically altered can further damage the hair. Hope that helps!
