and used a Lotus DOHC V8 with 6,939 units built
The C6 ZR1 Debuted In 2009 with a Supercharged OHV V8
with 4,684 units built
The C7 ZR1 Debuted In 2019 with a Supercharged OHV V8
with 2,953 units built

I owned a 1991 ZR-1 and loved it. It got too hard to smog in CA so I sold it and bought a 2011 CTS-V. It was also great. I had it for 5 years, sold it and now own a 2016 Z06. This is the best car I've owned. I'm sure the C7 ZR1 is phenomenal, but it's not in my budget, and I don't track. Thanks for the video!

Yeah, ZR1 is too much power for the street, you'll just be idling around everywhere and never use the full rpm range. Most people don't think of this.

I'll always remember seeing a ZR1 with the LT5 engine. That was when I knew Corvette was a car for me. Everyone around me had always insulted the Corvette for its OHV V8. But little did they know GM had made a DOHC V8 that could compete the elite of the 90's. (:

No one insulted the previous generations, especially the C2 and C3 high HP beasts. It was only when Jimmy Carter (D) decided to castrate sports cars all in the name of fuel economy, did all the previous muscle cars go from testosterone to estrogen. Then came the 1990 ZR-1 with an unapologetic tea bagging of the wimps of the car industry.

In 1971, there was the ZR2. It was basically the ZR1 but it had a 454 LS6 big block instead. Only a few of them were ever made.

Yeah even more rare than the ZR1. Only 12 ZR2 Corvette's were made. Although Chevy did make 188 LS6 Corvette's. The ZL1 Corvette is more of a Gem with only 2 made & had a all aluminum 427 Cubic inch V8.

@@jasonhenry7182 God no. People have a hard-on for the C6 and it's one of my least favorite looking Vettes. The base C7 is pretty awful too.

For those of you who har never driven a zr-1. Ypu wouldnt like it. The placement of tge shifter and how low you sit to thr ground. You literally have to hold your right arm up to switch gears. Its entirely an uncomfortable car to drive. Andi hate it worse tha driving a niassan z. And that car fucking sucks.

If only C6s would've looked like C7s, they would've been the greatest Corvettes ever. Still simple and affordable enough to still be accessible to normal people, not so ridiculously powerful that you couldn't safely wring them out a little on the street, and I think the C7s are by FAR the best-looking of the modern Corvettes while the C6s are by FAR the ugliest. The C7s are great, no question, but they're a bit too technically advanced and expensive for most people and mostly too fast to be able to get the most of on public roads in my opinion. I absolutely LOVED my C5 Z06, but there's no doubt the C6 Z06 kicks its ass, it's just so UGLY...
