Jay Leno. One of the nicest guys I ever met and he was standing at the very back of a line at a "car show" waiting to get just a drink. I love stick shift too. Not a big fan of padel shifters you just have a lack of feel when shifting. I ride cbr600rr and it is a sequential gear box and it feels great. I think the lack of feel has to do with the lack of a clutch and not having the play when shifting. If I bought a car with paddle shifters even if it was worth using I would never use it but maybe Im just not used to it.

I actually spoke to Jay Leno about the Corvette ZR-1 (when I worked at GM) back in November 2017 at Purchase University in NY. It was then we spoke about the ZR-1 he drove at Milford; he mentioned we did a good job with that vehicle. I also asked him about the Toyota Supra Turbo; I asked him to do a review on that vehicle....and it's amazing he did a review on BOTH the Supra and the ZR-1, back to back. Jay Leno also gave me wise advise and said, not to mention to fellow GM coworkers that I own a Toyota Supra. LOL Jay Leno is a cool guy to meet and talk cars with! It would awesome to meet him again.
@755hp6 жыл бұрын
TRAV First off, let's keep in mind these are two different cars from a different era. In any case, the new ZR-1 has a much better/capable handling chassis for RWD high Hp and Tq. And many control modules communicate to the ECM, making the car very balanced under different driving situations. This is not the case with the Supra....you're on your own for these driving situations. *Ex:* electronic throttle bodies (LT5) open up so many control-capabilities with other modules than a cable/mechanical type throttle body (2JZ). Also, the way each engine makes Hp and Tq are very different. The LT5 has a linear power-band where the 2JZ has an explosive power-band. For example, one can observe a higher *slope* of Hp-Tq on the Dyno graph of a high Hp 2JZ than the LT5; this is how quickly the 2JZ's power builds from nothing to savage in a couple 1000rpms. The LT5 has Hp and Tq available much sooner in the rpm-range where the 2JZ requires exhaust gas energy (flow) to spool the turbo (especially a single turbo) which then comes on very quickly, making traction very difficult for many types of tires; as a result, the Supra is harder to control from a standing-start than the ZR-1. This has to due with how each engine sends load to the tires (gradual or or instant) throughout its rev range. LT5 - linear/predictable/manageable high Hp and Tq A lot of this has to due with the calibration of multiple control modules (CAN-Bus) communicating to each other throughout the vehicle, helping the driver to "manage" such savage Hp and Tq from the LT5. 2JZ - explosive/burst/digital high Hp and Tq This is partly due to the engine size of the 2JZ (small 3.0L) vs the size of the turbo of choice (HUGE power-gap to climb in a matter of 1 second or less). Essentially, you go from calm (sub-300Hp) to savage (900+Hp) in a second of spooling the Turbocharger. Its fun to drive....hard to race (efficiently). *NOTE:* Its also harder to sell a vehicle of those power-band characteristics cause the company could get sued by untrained drivers in accidents. But again, these are two different cars from two DIFFERENT eras (decades apart).

I got to rent a base sting ray 2018 corvette when we went to California last year! I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is to drive as a daily driver. Not obnoxious at all in terms of suspension and handling. The loud exhaust was just fun to have and made it more fun! It was easy to drive when you weren't wanting a aggressive drive. Then when you wanted to drive more aggressively it was there instantly! I loved it! I thought I would like a corvette so much , but I did!

@maxxjett films....EXACTLY!!! Yeah the 8-speed automatic might shift faster and more accurate but there are three (3) things that let me know I’m driving “Merican Muscle”: 1.) V-8 (no dinky 6-Cylinder) 2.) Manual transmission (screw automatic) 3.) Low, Deep growl (no whiny “Rice Rocket” exhaust can) P.S., cramp seats 😜

@Donald Drumpf...Well they don’t make 2Js/RB26s/SR20s/20Bs anymore, so if you can find one that hasn’t been dogged out by some teenager trying to relive their Fast and Furious fantasies, then yes they are amazing engines. And you talk about these amazing engines but get you don’t understand why a manual is more satisfying than an automatic?🤔 I give all engines respect, but just like in the video, the car out the crate is a beast. (Even Z06). Size might not matter to you, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

@cardinaloflannagancr89296 жыл бұрын
Vernard Pugh They did not receive none the less even ask for. That is not an opinion it is a fact! Sorry your mad gm took a bailout. Which they actually went into debt to pay back early before they were again profitable. As they wanted to get out from under the governments thumb. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troubled_Asset_Relief_Program. There was this www.thebalance.com/auto-industry-bailout-gm-ford-chrysler-3305670. It is not the same thing, though Chevy fans prefer to glance over that.
@rorodollars6 жыл бұрын
True they did not receive anything from the TARP funds, but they did asked for federal aid. and of all the big 3 they borrowed the most. Coming in at 15.9 billion Although Ford did not receive TARP funds, it did receive government loans. These were critical because banks were not lending during the financial crisis. It requested a $9 billion line-of-credit from the government. In return, it pledged to spend $14 billion on new technologies. On June 23, 2009, Ford received a $5.9 billion loan from the Energy Department's Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program. It used the loans to retool its product lineup to focus on smaller, energy efficient vehicles. LOL that sounds familiar
