There is a long tradition of murder ballads in country music. They trace back to the British Isles, and were popular in other areas of Europe too. Independence Day - Martina McBride Kerosene; Gunpowder & Lead - Miranda Lambert Church Bells; Two Black Cadillacs - Carrie Underwood The Thunder Rolls - Garth Brooks The Long Black Veil - Johnny Cash and many others…

I hope that life is better for you now & any siblings you have (& for your mother also if ...) Abuse is a LEARNED BEHAVIOUR & will be the first reaction many who have gone through it will resort to unless they DELIBERATELY try to work out OTHER ways to deal with anger & disappointment IN ADVANCE. Please pass this on to any siblings you have to think over (& you as well if needed, although you seem to have a more gentle disposition - but still.) Love from Canada & all the best.

@@SaeedReacts. I'm glad. A good alternative way of dealing with upset/anger is to get your "steam" out in OTHER physical ways ie. going for a run, doing push-ups, smacking a tennis ball or soccer ball against the side of a brick building repeatedly etc. (This is advice for you [& others] - as it is best to end the cycle of abuse taking place down family generations for everyone.) All the continued best, love from Canada.💞

The Dixie Chicks were on top of the charts for a good while, until lead Natalie Maines made a few controversial statements about President Bush making her ashamed of being from Texas. Granted, she's free to feel and say whatever she wants, but she really didn't read the room very well considering a large portion of their audience were die-hard conservatives. Most country stations quit playing their songs pretty much overnight.

This is a fun one that still makes you think about a tough subject. Kinda like Hardys' song 'Wait in the truck'. Serious, shocking song/video about domestic violence & an ending you don't expect. If you haven't seen it, check it out. Powerful stuff for a couple reasons. And, since you love stories, you also need to check out Taylor Swifts song 'No body, no crime'. It has a great story, with 2 murders in about 5 minutes. LOL Really good.
