20 years ago I was in the military. My supervisor married a woman that had a child, adopted the baby, and thought he had his own son. We deployed after 9/11. When we came home from the desert the girl that he adopted told him his wife was with another man in their home. They go through the divorce, he does DNA tests, and his son wasn’t his. Since he legally adopted the oldest and the son was conceived during the marriage he was liable. He was ordered to pay child support for two children that weren’t his after getting cheated on while we were in the desert. Never, ever adopt, never date a woman with children, and stop trying to be what you didn’t have. In this era having integrity is a liability.

I was engaged at that time. Young troops be away from home messing up marrying what we called base heads. They just wanted to get in base housing by any means. But instead of being prideful, wanting to hide what he was going through, and fake the funk he took me to the empty house, showed me his orders, and taught me that I was making the same mistake. That brotha is still my friend and definitely kept me from making the same mistake. His generation was a generation of broken men raised to fix broken women by broken women. They will probably tell you a list of what all to bring but they not gonna hold your hand and make sure you have everything. Even more, They probably gonna use a little bit of that money to maybe buy some gifts for the judge to earn some favor, and just request dad to pay lawyer fees so that they can get the favor money back.

If he legally adopted the child then he should pay child support...that's how it works legally speaking. People need to really understand what they are taking on with legal adoption, that's your child. Read them papers take it seriously before you do anything.

Adoption papers have to be filed with the court, also a court officer usually a judge has to verify and confirm you know what you're signing and your rights. The lawyer can search and pull those documents in 10 minutes. What her and her lawyer are trying to do is get him to volunteer to pay child support. Basically sign-up to be the stand in father and financially support a child legally.

They're trying to con him into signing something to pay for a child she knows is not his. Adoption is through courts, even if she "lost" the original documents, her "lawyer" would have been able to pull what was filed by the court, have a hearing during the divorce proceedings, and establish paternity, prove the adoption, and set child support. They're trying to hustle him into signing something so they don't have to prove if the adoption actually occured.

This man has lived in the same house as the child for over 7 years so the judge will make him the father regardless if he is the biological father.
