My kid use to watch blippi. Even after I found out about his past, I still let him watch the videos. His videos were wholesome and sometimes educational. Everyone has done something they aren’t proud of. If you’ve moved on and became a better person, would you want people to constantly dig up your last? The "lack of good content" for toddlers online is right.. The dude makes great learning videos. Who really cares what his intentions are if the product is high quality? We consume all kinds of products that are generated by people who are motivated by greed (not saying he is, I have no idea). It's up to the parents to stay vigilant and be responsible, but that applies to anything. It's one thing to be informative so parents can choose what they're comfortable with, but bringing it up for pure sensation is not really in good faith and frankly, a little exploitive and doesn't make us much of a better person. I have always thought it was weird to go after people in children's shows for not being child friendly in every aspect of their life. This has always been the case. reading railroad had George Carlin teaching kids despite being a champion of profanity, drugs , and pretty much everything adult in his comedy. Same with Robin Williams. He was an iconic movie actor from Aladdin to Flubber to Hook. Very child friendly and wholesome. Yet, if you check out his stand up, he jokes about everything from drugs to sex and isn't afraid to use profanity and be as descriptive as possible. Honestly, I love both comedians. I think there's different kinds of humor for different audiences. Another addition to the previous comment, for more sinister intentions like exploitation its a powerful way to manipulate someone. Just about every celeb utilizes fans because the fans seek their love and approval, but it becomes much more sinister when children are involved. Kids are gonna fall for it, like when lionmaker encouraged his child audience to shake their ass on camera and tag him, they would get encouragement when he liked or responded. Or they could do something as simple as "youre really pretty can you send me a picture it would make my day" kids fall for the gross tactics of them because they idolize them

To be quite honest when I saw the title I assumed this would be about a children's youtuber that's some type of child predator and not just some do that did weird poop videos. Personally I couldn't really care all that much if someone made weird NSFW content in the past and decided to shift toward family friendly content. Just the whole notion of sexual content (especially kink/fetish stuff) tainting a person permanently is just... reactionary as all hell. I feel the same way about parents that want a teacher fired after finding out they've done sex work in the past like why the fuck do you care? How does that affect their ability to show your brat how to do math? I agree with you. If we dig into every educational instructors past or even present we will all be disappointed. I feel bad for people that want to do good for kids that have this kind of criticism. What he did is definitely wrong, a little weird, and concerning. But it is great that he has improved himself, and that he apologized, something that many people utterly cannot do. My step daughter grew up watching Blippi all the time and tbh, watching his content with her, I like how his format works. He is genuinely informative and engaging for kids, and he gets them interested in learning. My 11m/o isn’t too interested in his videos, but I wouldn’t mind if she ended up enjoying them later. His story kinda reminded me of Gustavo Scat here in Brazil. the actor Fernando Mais was known for his role in a live action adaptation of a very beloved kids comic book, Turma da Mônica. He played a character with minor importance but still he was in the cast and it's a great movie. People ended up discovering he had an online page, VERY famous, in which he used the Gustavo Scat persona. I guess by the name of it you can tell what this persona was all about. So yeah when people discovered about it the internet went insane lol. But unlike Blippy, his whole thing wasn't in the past, he was still very much involved in it when he acted in the film.
