Brilliant work I thought Compash all round for all our solutions after trauma Twas so non judgemental and raw honesty with the self-reflection narration, like a gentle guiding voice but can turn upon us, vulnerable, sad, yet powerful n fascinating, also shows knock-on effects of our behaviours, reactions and responses with family and colleagues / our mini - worlds And even humour surrounding son/father/ Cathoholics/ genius!! Really Great Work 🎉🎉🎉

I’m amazed that the victim played himself in this series. He is very brave and self aware. He admitted to liking Martha’s attention and kept going back to his abuser’s home.. I thought he was going to unalive him that last visit. A complicated story, he was searching to find himself and somehow was a glutton for toxic, abusive relationships. Very interesting series. I watched "Baby Reindeer" last week on Netflix and it was an eye-opener. How Richard Gad was able to hold up under the torment and stalking by Martha is beyond me. He is obviously a very talented and resilient man. I found this comedy-drama deeply disturbing and was extremely thankful that Martha did not kill him as she was capable of anything. "Baby Reindeer" is a must-see.

Everyone loves to name the system but there's so much a system can do against manipulative, uncooperative and unwilling people. Matha played the system after getting arrested once and used her knowledge of law to her advantage. They even made her go through a programme that didn't work because she wasn't willing to change. Donny also indulged both Matha and the creepy writer. He's girlfriend even told him to stop going to the writer's apartment abd he flat out refused, how is the system supposed to intervene there. He refused to tell the police about the whole story, the attack on Terry would have got Matha then and there, but he refused to do so. He hindered his own help on many ways. What can a system do with both Donny and Matha playing, lying and indulging their sick relationship?

A close friend was the victim of physical and mental abuse by an ex who became a stalker. He racked up a number of victims over a few short years and only got locked up when he was caught for child s. offences. He's back out now and still threatening harm to all of his prior victims. The law needs to toughen up. If he had been banged up sooner he wouldn't have had the opportunity he had to possibly ruin a young childs life.

I imagine producing this helped him to feel "in control" of the trauma. I've been stalked, and especially if you're a guy, it feels surreal/unreal. Especially if the perp is a beautiful woman--every guy you tell is envious. Only women are like "nah, she's a monster"

@rustomkanishka
@rustomkanishka 3 ай бұрын
I don't think most men are even taken seriously, let alone get sympathy. When it happens, you're always told that you're lucky, you need to get off your high horse and accept her into your life. Stalkers are often violent too, and while society usually considers self defence a natural right, nah, not when it's a woman. Then self defence is illegal. Also, apparently women are reasonable so you must have done something to "lead them on" or piss them off enough for you to deserve all this.

Reminds me of the abuse my Mom suffered from my Dad he is a domestic abuser, he stalked her, took her phone 📱away, stripped her topless for no reason in front of me and my little brother, attacked for no reason nearly every day and made up lies about her, myself and my little brother (he regularly tell random people, family members and friends that my brother was gay when he was 13 or 14 despite the fact that he had a girlfriend later on.) he took away my Mom letters, would not let her speak to her own family but yet he allowed himself to speaks her family. At one point my Mom did call 📞 the police on him but they did nothing, although we finally left him a decade later because I told my Mom I didn’t want stay with him anymore after I heard him attack her for no reason again at the middle of the night after she came back from work. When I say all these things about him to people and therapist when his present he would say why I’m I against him to the therapist and I’m like “ You’re the one who was against us, and you act like that most of times.” Living with Dad was like walking 🚶‍♀️ on eggshells everyday. Sure domestic violence and stalking law have change since then but I still believe the police wouldn’t do anything about it.

This show did a fantastic job of showing how some victims respond to abuse, how the shame controls and takes over your life. You’ll do almost anything to forget, to not accept and face what happened. You think if other people know the truth they’ll think less of you because that’s how you see yourself, especially when you’re groomed by someone. I really related to Donny because I understand his trauma. I’m a SA survivor and I was also groomed at thirteen by someone older who had more power than I did. It took me many years to talk about it, even when I knew what happened to me was wrong I still felt I wasn’t allowed to say it out loud. My shame and embarrassment controlled me and I allowed myself to be treated in ways I didn’t deserve because of it. It took over twenty years, having a daughter and a wonderful mother in law who recognized that I needed help before I actually got help and started allowing myself to say out loud what happened to me. Even after everything I know now I still struggle and live with extreme anxiety and PTSD. I still feel shame when I talk about what happened to me, but I now know it’s the pain and trauma making me feel that. I know I don’t deserve it and I didn’t deserve what happened to me. This show really does an amazing job of showing self loathing and how you can get trapped in a cycle of abuse and trauma. I think so many people have this idealistic imagine of what a victim is, who they are and how they’ll react. This series showed some very uncomfortable things, it was brutal and honest. Hopefully, it will help people understand mental health and victims a bit more. I hope it opens up many more conversations and gives others the strength to confront their truths.

It was an utterly compelling drama- the fact that it is based on an actual stalking is chilling. The acting and script are stunningly good, it was really interesting how he depicted the victim of the stalker as also somehow being somewhat addicted to the attention he got, until, of course, things turned very dark. Essentially, it's a drama about what can happen when mental health fail in both victim and perpetrator and how weak the law is in preventing this.

Like when Donny is at the police station reporting Martha but fails to mention she has a criminal record a mile long and served prison time for stalking but decides not to mention it to police and then wonders and complains why the cops are not doing anything. It was a good series if you can ignore the fact that a lot of what happens is implausible and outrageous. I guess maybe the underlying point is he is a glutton for punishment and secretly enjoys being abused by Martha but then why go to police in the first place?

I agree that it was so Hard to watch but on the other hand it really explained how complicated our minds are. How terrible abuse is but also generational abuse . I loved it and I am going to think about it for a long time. I am sure. Our narcissism can be titilated even by monsters . Mo sfera who must have themselves been victims before, not to excuse them but to understand them somehow. Only by understanding we can maybe improve the situation

The police literally dont care about peoples well beings and are more focused on the war on drugs and petty crimes. Plus they would rather use excuses here to avoid looking into “trickier” because it’s apparently “too hard” to prove even with 100% evidence. I have had many friends who were stalked/harassed and r-ed and when they tried reporting they were always dismissed.
