The Chiltern Railways "Silver Sets" 50 years on - are they still good? | Stragglers, Mark 3 sets

To be clear the Mark 3s haven't been operating with Chiltern for 50 years, just are around 50 years old!
Today i check out how good the Mark 3 coaches are nearly 50 years after their construction in another episode of Stragglers!
I missed out somethings from the video by accident:
-Business zone is declassified on ALL silver sets
-The Mark 3s have a top speed of 125mph, but only go 100mph

I was travelling from London to Birmingham in 2019. Usually, I got virgin trains but the WCML was closed. In your day of 68’s the WCML was also closed which was surprising! They’ve shut it in 2019 and now 4 years later? Really? There was no LNWR either so there was one option left. Chiltern Railways. I got on one of these loco hauled trains from London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street. I watched your day of 68’s video and to know that this train is rare, I feel very thankful I got one of these! I saw everything you saw on this service. I have to agree, these trains are absolutely FANTASTIC!!❤❤❤❤ Thank you for this excellent video Vanmanyo!👍

Every time I go to London I try to go in these units. It is so confortable, you have a lot of space and light. They are smoother and quieter than the Chiltern 168 trains. Love them!

I went on my first silver set and I was rather impressed by seats, the lighting and the fact I was in the front carriage behind the loco

Have to go to Birmingham for work soon and now trying to convince my colleagues to take the Marylebone route for a bit of extra comfort! I remember the slam door Mk3 days from being a teenager regularly getting FGW services between the west country and wales. Great to see how those carriages can keep the comfort but update accessibility/doors. Shame to hear Chiltern tendered for their replacement to be honest!

The DVT's entered service in 1988 meaning that they are 35 years old not 50

Yep I believe I did mention this, if I didn't I did know it! The carriages themselves are older though
