You don't have to kill yourself. If you just go back where you had to jump in the hole. go between the pillars on the opposite side of the lantern, look up and slightly to the left and you'll see the trinket glowing purple. Just shoot the root next to it and it'll fall for you to pick it up.

omg guys i didn't wanna go back up after I beat this and running backwards you can see the hole it falls through, well check this out, if you have voltaic rondure you can just shoot it into the hole and it should bounce and knock the item down without you having to die and go back to the top, you're welcome ^_^ also helps if you have the ring that auto generates 8 mp a second or w/e
