In this exciting adventure, Wang Yu plays a brave martial artist seeking revenge against a ruthless gang of karate experts who terrorize his town.
When Wang Yu's friends are brutally attacked and killed by the karate thugs, he trains tirelessly to hone his skills and prepare for a showdown. Along the way, he encounters colorful characters and faces dangerous challenges, all while staying focused on his mission to defeat the evil gang.
One of the coolest things about this movie is its focus on hand-to-hand combat, which was a fresh change from the classic sword-wielding heroes of previous films. Plus, the story is super easy to follow, with each character having their own unique goals and motivations.
While there could have been more training sequences to show Wang Yu's journey to becoming a skilled fighter, the movie still packs a punch with its exciting action scenes and memorable characters.

Hello mate, this is a real classic, possibly the first fist and feet film, it must have been an incredible experience watching this when it first came out all those years ago. I am not sure if was the first Chinese vs Japanese film either, but you are right Bruce Lee "borrowed" it big time for Fists of Fury. I agree with you about Jimmy with regards to action, he isn't as dynamic as others but he is charismatic. Him and Lo Lieh were Shaw's first big stars, Wang Yu went off to pastures new and Lo Lieh went from hero to villian. I first saw this years ago, one of the first Shaw films I ever saw and I still enjoy watching it now. Good stuff mister!

For the "I'm gonna mess up your dojo thing" - maybe the first one. Nobody has done it as well as Donnie Yen in Yip Man, but it was definitely a trope in the 70s, even in US movies like Blackbelt Jones. I agree that Jimmy Wang Yu needed somebody to rule him in, like George Lucas in the 90s. Loh Lieh can pull anything off based on charisma, but Wang Yu maybe not so much. (Apologies - I do love both Master of the Flying Guillotine and Trail of the Broken Blade, and respect the importance of Golden Swallow and the unseen Tiger Boy. But Wang Yu just rarely does it for me.)

@@paulthomas3247 agree, I think Return of is a better film. I recently saw Beach of the war gods which I thought was excellent. Jimmy led a very colourful life, kind of ironic he had a stroke in his later years which left him without the use of one arm.
