Constitution won't protect anyone when extreme violent turmoil starts and prevails. Liu Shaoqi, the former Chinese Chairman, was holding a copy of Constitution while he was attacked and shouted at publicly by the Red Guards. He was ordered standing on a chair surrounded by thousand madly insane little red guards. His family didn't know he died in prison until a few years later. Nobody knew then where he was jailed and how he was treated. There are a leaked photo of his dead body with a few feet long white hair hanging down besides the bed.
