What we see in this video, are the "good" shots. We dont see the HOURS of falls, sprains, and failures. These moves had to be done hundreds of times just to perfect them. Fucking outstanding.

Yea sure with enough training on the tiny muscle groups, overall balance AND A LOW ENOUGH BODY WEIGHT. Calisthenics is visually cool when the guy is tiny and tiny guys need less wayy lesser work to reach this level. Real monsters in the natural world lift heavy and they interact with external objects. Gorillas, chimps, tigers, bears, bulls, elephants .. list goes on and on. If we were naturally meant to go calisthenics over external objects, we'd be arboreal by now, with a lighter body structure and biomechanics like a gibbon

The physics of certain body types plays a very large role for certain things in calisthenics. The Men's Chinese gymnastics team could always demonstrate maltese and planche skills with the most ease. Their typical proportions were ideal for those skills. Despite training for a decade on the planche and maltese, I couldn't change the physics of my proportions (heavy muscular thighs and legs). My attempts at planche and maltese never got horizontal.

@@mugen8art I can understand where you're coming from, however I would call myself an expert as a former D1 athlete in the sport of Mens Gymnastics who trained for nearly 2 decades. But back to my original point- when I competed in college there was an illinois rings specialist who was capable of some incredible feats. One of the things that made him so capable was that he had a birth defect where one of his legs was extremely under-developed making his lower half much lighter.

Definitely there is an ideal height for this type of activity. Basically the smaller you are the better as long as you have good proportions. Gymnasts have been proving that for decades. Not to dissuade taller/larger people though. There are plenty of 6'+ guys that can manage a front/back lever and planche with good form. Its just a lot harder for them than it would be if they were about 5'6".

Impressive. I used to be in gymnastics in high school. I excelled at the rings (Iron Cross) and floor work. But I got into trouble with a gang member and all that went out the window. My father took me to a boxing gym and I got my ass kicked and eventually kicked a lot of ass. Never looked back. (Real life experience) Focused my mind, body and spirit on something that I could actually apply and that my safety depended on. Doing a backflip to stand where I’m already standing serves no purpose.
