I was obsessed with Filly Horses. They were even more popular than MLP in Germany at the time. I loved their Swarovski crystals & how each generation had a different theme. They also came with little cards & booklets explaining their family tree, where they come from & role in the kingdom/universe. It was a incredibly charming toy line actually.

forget the "series" I will always treasure the flocked filly toys I had as a kid, so cute and fluffy! altho my first one, in the same colors as the mascot from one of the first series, was one of those where even the eyes were flocked too so I thought it was dusty and spent the entire afternoon getting rid of the flocking by washing it all day so that "she could finally see well without dust in her eyes"
@fairyhaven132 күн бұрын
to be fair, it is bizarre to add a thin layer of wool over the eyes. I might have done the same lol
@fruity48202 күн бұрын
Omg same! I gave mine so many baths bc that fluff looks so much like dust, and actual dust gets caught on it much more easily (especially when you keep watering them) I remember that they were very similar in size and texture to 'my littlest pet-shop' so I thought they were part of the same series and never questioned why all the horses have crowns while none of the pets have one
@lydiagalantmotherf2 күн бұрын
I will FOREVER contest the notion that Filly (itself, not the show) is just a knockoff! They were absolutely different from MLP in every way that mattered: Every year a different theme (mostly, and I know nearly all by heart!), small collectable figurines, and tons of big playsets, please look into those! ... But man is the show an absolute waste of potential. It could've revived them if they took advantage of the many Filly worlds they had, like have there be a big bad who brings chaos to the worlds and have other fillies from other worlds save the day and teach lessons. You could've revived the old ones like Unicorns, Witchies, et cetera and have made new toys for the bad guys, plus also driven renewed traffic to the magazines!... But no. Instead we got... This.
@claudine182 күн бұрын
Yesss, this! I remember watching mlp and also reading the filly comics when I was in Grade School and it never actually felt like a knockoff - Maybe if the used the actual wordlbuilding established in the comics, it could have been better.

@claudine18 Definitely! Because they COULD have used the different kingdoms for creative stuff! But they didn't because... No clue, honestly.

As a child born in Germany I personally didn't even know all that much about the MLP toys just the show because Filly was simply in the foreground toys wise. I had tons of them. I started collecting during the Filly Fairy line and went for it till the Filly Stars line with the sparkly wings. Personally having grown up with the figures who always had tiny booklets with them that explained their world and family relations and a card talking about the figurine you got, I found them to be very endearing. Even up to this day I still know a lot about them cause it was just that much fun to me. In fact my best friend from the time and me are overall having fun chatting about them nowadays too so they sadly aren't being sold regularly here anymore. The show seems to be really weird in comparison to what I knew from magazines and the booklets and cards. In fact I find it really said they didn't look deeper into the different kingdoms and their families. Generally speaking the Fillies had a lot of character and were very cool toys to collect. Honestly I would love it if you could dive deeper into the matter as I really love your videos and I still love Fillies so it would be cool to get something regarding both from you. Also just cause I am curious to those who collected them: What is your favourite line? MIne were the Filly Witchy Magic.

I had a couple of the super small mini ones that were like coin sized, I thought they were interesting because they had this whole fuzzy texture thing going on, but I think I got bored of them pretty quick because they didn’t have nearly as much playability as the mlp of the time, you couldn’t move their limbs, the hair was solid plastic, and the crowns were imbedded in their heads. Core memory sitting in my grandparents house trying to rip the crown out of the little blue prince pony’s head, wishing I had the slightly bigger version with the bejeweled removable crowns.

This is my first time hearing about this series but the idea of pony royalty using magic mirrors sounds like such a really cool concept, it's crazy how they continued on with four seasons despite the lack of viewership for English speaking countries that are more interactive with horse series like My Little Pony. As for video recommendations, I've been bored so I've been rewatching an old series called Power battle watch Cars. It's free to watch on KZbin with two seasons and is produce by SAMG productions, the same animation studio behind the Miraculous series.

I unfortunately lost a bunch of mine and I spent so much time looking for them at home but they are still missing :( I am still looking to find a way to buy some cause I like them a lot. To me, a then kid who didn't know the series even existed, I never cared about the whole world building. I would read it the first time, then look at the different cards we'd get with the fillys, I think there was a skill chart or something depending on the collection, maybe some reationships too?? I remember some were siblings and stuff. I know which fillys I had/have, not the names, but I kinda had a bit of everything. EXCEPT the angels, I never liked those wings guys, I'm so sorry, I'm here for the glowing and glittery wings. I feel like its important to point out that Filly is a toy company first and a movie/video company maybe fourth. Unlike MLP where the success of the toyline depends heavily on the pre-made series for Tv, here the toys usually come first, hence why the company is struggeling so much to implement the characters in this mish-mash (of at least 6 different worlds and storylines). The characters do have very different roles and personalities (written on the cards accompanying the figurines) with each series having a very diverse and thoughtful realm and storytelling (done through the toys and *magazines*) so I find your critique of the show valid and sensible, but reducing the entire franchise to solely being a cheap MLP knock-off quite ignorant when Filly has done many unique things (in the pony kind development sense, with wildely different stories and locations) even before Mlp did and unjust. Of course you're not a toy-reviewer but its this kind of infuriating american attitude thats always involved with anything thats vaguely pony themed towards young girls, claiming everything else is all mlp and no originality. Filly is an old gem from the twothousands and it still holds up for young kids nowadays, please dont throw the entire brand out just because you chose to engage only with the literal worst medium to experience it to choose from.

I grew up with the toys! I remember they released about 12 special ponies for winter once. 11 were bought separately (in mystery packs iirc, like most fillys) and the 12th was included in an ice skating rink toy! These special toys, when pressed and glided against the ice skating rink, would leave a bright red/magenta trail that would eventually fade away over time. I think it was some laser technology since they required batteries? Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this, I also remember one of the ponies was named Bellana I'm also proud to say I have the iconic treehouse set :3

I loved filly ponies as a kid so much! Funnily enough, I think I knew it way before my little pony. This is the first time I actually connected the dots that they're a rip off XD

i had all the filly fairies back in like 2011 and it was at that time my greatest achievement in life. don't want to know how many euros i spent on the various filly lines. i stopped collecting around the time filly elves came out (because I was afraid it was too childish to collect these kinds of things and i would get bullied at school. i got bullied, but for different things) last year i found out that they still had some magazines with filly butterflies and i bought four of them. seems that the magazine line got cancelled too, at least i couldn't find any new ones in stores. i still have all of my fillies and i will treasure them forever
